Re: How many ??
Hi
I have this book too and I had in mind to build the detector. But I heard that there are many errors like twisted transistors, wrong values etc. in the schematic and I skipped the project.
There are much better PI projects than the DBP2010 currently on German PI sites. I'll have there a closer look first. By the way. Can you publish all the errors in the DBP2010 project?

Re: How many ??
Chris . The DBP2010 is not bad at all . The only thing is that you have to be well educated in building detectors in order to know what is going on . No novice will be able to sort out the written explanation and building instructions as mentioned in the book of Rolf Wilhelm . This man must have written the book in order to get some sales of his ,,Building kit ,, . There is a list of errors that was worked out by me and the Publisher of the Dutch version of the book . The questions I had for Mr. Wilhelm were NOT answered by him . This shows some of the character of the man . His price for the building kit is 485.- Euro , plus packaging and shipping . This should be around 500.- Euro all together . Don't you think this is kind of much for a box-full of resistors , capacitors , a pc-board , some IC's and two coils ? I think so . Oh yeah ! You get the housing and knobs also . I have two of these detectors built now . I am happy with them . I made an template so I can drill all woles in the ( rearranged ) front part of the housing . The housing I use is a ( 7.- Euro ) Euro-housing of 180x205X70 mm . This housing will accomodate the detector , the Battery and the Speaker . My cost of all the parts to finish the DBP2010 is 95.- Euro . The coils are not included into this amount. The coil I wound myself ( plus the housing for this coil )cost me less than 9.- Euro . After complete testing I will give the results to the Publisher of the book to include the necessary things into the Errata list . What is that detector of which you think it is/could be as good as the DBP2010 . I am interested to build it if you can help me in showing where I can get the schematics . Regards Kees ( Holland )

Re: How many ??
Hi Kees
You are right. 500 Euro is much to expensive for a couple of resistors, PCB, housing and IC's. I tryed to contact Mr. Rolf Wilhelm as well but no reply at all. So I postphone the whole project. Were can you buy a coil housing?
Do you have an address?
From the shematic you can see that the "Filter 1 & 2" are not really filters. He is just playing with the timing.
I built the Tiny from www.pulsdetektor.de (my own PCB design see pic.) but there are newer, better projects right now. All PI's have an ATMEL micro controller for the timing. If you don't want to use the ATMEL MC for the timing you can replace it wih the timing circuit of the tiny project. If you have problems to find all PI projects let me know. I can forward it to you.
Best regards

Re: How many ??
Chris . You are good in designing the PCB of TINY . Wonderful job . The PCB layout of the 2010 is not too good for home printing and etching . There may be a job for you to re-arrange some of the ,,tight ,, spots on the PCB . I have my own work shop in which I make my coils . Not a steady line , but good for testing purposes . When everything works out fine I spend a little more time on them and come up with a professionaly built unit . I can buy the forms for the coils here in Holland but why spend all that money on a shell when the prototype is not working to its optimum yet . Think about making another PCB for the 2010 . Would be nice I think . Regards Kees
