Can pinpointer detecting thin chain?

Good day!
Can anyone confirm whether pinpointer capable of detecting thin silver or gold chain?
I made a simple (only on the test plate), http://www.qsl.net/va3iul/Homebrew_R...T_Homemade.gif
and a thin silver chains can not be detected even if it leans on a ferrite core. Large (3mm) chain link can be detected.

this is not problem, cause your detector cannot detect such thin gold chain too, so you don't need to pinpoint it..

There are claims, that some detectors are capable to detect thin (how thin?) gold chain yet. Detectors like Blisstool LTC64 par example.

Maybe we face with bigger problem than in chain case when we try to detect thin used injection needles in grass.

Hello, First, sorry for my bad english.
I do not agree with the statement that no one pinpointer thin chain can detect.
I been build a pinpointer who thin chain and even a single small link at 0.8 inches can detect. The Garrett pro pointer not detected at all. He's definitely not ready yet and needs to be further improved, but the first tests are very hopeful and exceeds the Garrett pro pointer ease.
If there is interest, I would make a video with the results achieved so far.

Can't help with the original question but can say that the Garrett Pro fails on small items. I detected a very small piece of brass all be it not very deep with my detector then someone else with a Garrett Pro touching it could not get it to register at all.

i knocked up this circuit tonight and it works ok, did not have a buzzer though so triggered an led.
and its as good as any other pinpoiner(homemade) i've done.
does anyone here have a schematic for clicker audio stage, to add to it i want to have a play with this, i have a vco, and fixed tone but would really like a clicker for this thanks,

The White's TRX hits thin chains pretty well.

Small gold etc. chains have different weights, alloys and it depends if the whole metal is at one spot or the chain is spread out.

Low conductive coins, 5mm diameter, can be found at ca. 4-8cm depth. Most small chains contain much more metal.

a chain is detected by a detector on very massive part of it only, ie this maybe a lock on chain mainly. all link/rings are not add in all general mass for as a detector
reacts.

OK. I will go to hunt that small chains! So what I have to do?

Get a pinpointer and crawl with it over several acres of land?

Or someone can advice a metal detector to find that small chain than pinpoint it using your great pinpointer?

Sure it is possible. Question is: how thin chain, what is its bigger part and how it is made. If it is made so that it act as a thin wire then it is not a real thin chain.
