Yes sure. Cooper, silver, iron chains can be found even if they are relatively small. But to gold chains without heavy lock, ring or medallion on it at least smaller 4 mm. wide we have so say bye bye.
May be some $4000 nugget detector can see gold chain 3.5mm or 3 mm. or even 2.95 mm. wide. I have no one and can't test.
I guess using such nugget detector to look for small gold chains first let you find all bits of aluminum foil starting 2-3mm in diameter.

The video is ready. It is not well made but you can see how the pinpointer does. The pinpointer needs to be further improved.

Hi Nupi - good effort - like the techniques in the video.

your 1/2" distance is written as 1 1/2 could be misleading for some.

          What design is that? S

iv'e built it and it has potential(as much as any of these home spun pinpointers), as i said before i'd really like a clicker audio stage for this, if anybody has one.
            thanks ally

Thank golfnut you're right. I see now that the marking of the
1-1/2 is not right to. I have 2-1/2.
but I want to mislead anyone. Sory for
the mistakes, I was too hasty,
On the circuit, I can not say as much because I am considering
to make a DIY kit, so that with little effort, most people can build a Proper
              pinpointer.

I agree with you, we do not seek into the air, but in the ground.
I make this week a video with wet beach sand and clay soil. I know the result.
I can only tell you this: you'll be amazed.

Hi WM6, I agree with you that determines how the chain is made
but I think the chain shown on the video can really call a thin chain
                        without closure or whatever.

The pinpointer soil test is ready. I'm curious what you think of it. Now I expect that I will be reappointed chief of Carl at White's Electronics
