  • BTW... EXCLUSIVE!
Audio you hear on video is coming from speaker taken from faulty ... iPhone6 !!!!

It is small and narrow, closed in tiny box. Very easy to include on front panel, very loud tough!

    • And just when you think this is nonsense and pointless...
Yes! It can discriminate very well!

      • Even so... why small coil!?
        What for?

Well... let me just tell you that final distance with this coil is fantastic 35cm!!!!
With Sense adjusted only to 14; it is sensing metal objects up to 35cm in air!
Overall, detector is rock stable with it (later about this) and very calm, almost perfect!
With this small coil it is reaching more distances than some PI and IB detectors with much larger coils, presented on this forum!
        Ok, so what?
        Why small coil again?
        Excellent pinpointer.
You can put it in narrow pipe and use it as probe.
Instead digging wide and large holes to finally discover some junk; it is much easier to drill a narrow hole and put this coil down there and check!
        This coil ROCKS!
        And it DISCRIMINATES!
        And it is "DEEP" !
C'mon experts! Can you beat that?!

        P.S.
"...rock stable with it (later about this) ..."

Only thing that i did to make it rock stable was to shorten fet legs as shorter as possible.
That's why i think the original pcb design is not exactly most happy solution.
Nor my previous pcb design too. I made same mistake.
In the future i am planning to draw quite new pcb to correct that problem that i noticed.
It is a small trick but very important and beneficial.

        • Hi Iviconic!
It is a pleasure to read your posts! I like it! they are plenty of very useful information! Nothing to compare with some endless bla bla bla ... Bravo!
I started building the MD following your authoritativeness, unfortunately some work left to do again... but now I must absolutely find that kind of strange coil you have!

Meantime thank you again for your precious knowledge sharing!

It is coil taken from old and obsolete 5.25" floppy disk, there are 6 such coils in one floppy disk.

At the beginning i took that coil only for skim tests, it is small and not occupying much of space on the table, nor is sensitive much on interferences from a workshop.
But later it turns to be very interesting and useful coil.
Whatever you do; make sure to shorten pins/legs at fet IRF840 as much as you can. Solder it close to pcb.
Because, when its pins are long; it is "irradiating" like a radio station and forms unwanted "field" around, causing lot of interferences and instability.
That's why would be good to draw quite new pcb with fet in horizontal position and with very short leads and traces.

I blocked counter only on versions V3.0 and V3.23.
Right now i am using V3.23.
Cant tell for sure if it is the best.
In meantime author did newer versions.
Logically; newer versions should be better.

This could happen due to high impedance of mosfet gate.
Moreover, taking a look to your PCB design, I see than GND walk around everything from regulator to mosfet source; it could be better to connect it straight. Just to try!

                    • hi all

Said that the 60 cm spool can detect 2 meters.

I used different types of coils with wire 0.5 and 0.7 and 1 mm with a capacity of 280 and 320 and 360 and 420 uf is the same result at 1.5 m.

I use an original lf357n 20mhz that the problem of this distance or not true that felezjoo can detect 2 m with 60 cm reel

I saw your video with 60 voice coil of detection of a piece has 70 cm.

How much the max distance with this coil.

Is what the use of atmega328-pu as equivalent can.
                          Assign distance to be detected

It can detect a 1gallon steel at 2.5 meters, no idea of any replacement for 328-PU.
