A simple bundle coil - 27 turns insulated litze wire or magnet wire 20 cm diameter is about 300 microHenry. You can use the excellent coil calculator available here on the forum.
Also check out the coil specific forum - all coil types described for e.g. surfPI are also applicable here on this Pickini V4.

Here is some information on coil construction for Pickini V3, which uses an identical coil as this V4:

      • Hello again bernard.what is depth of detection of 50 cm iron plate diameter with 50 cm coil diameter?and how much is sensitive this detector to the gold?
        Thank u.

i ve made little change to fit the resistor 0805 smd foot print, and adapt condensator foot print too, corrected the pickit header (we will just have to put the pickit on the pcb and burning progr!!!)
i ve tell to microchip to send me some pic16f1824 smd sample so now i m waiting for and bought some lm318 soic too (but in aliexpress so i have to wait a looooooong time !!!)
i havent added a 1µf cap near 7805 (will do it soon)
i have made an excel file of all the component we need to do pikini ,we have just to print it now (i join it with my pcb revision)
          have nice day
There is something wrong in the SMD-Layout...
          Look the Part for the Speaker (Pic Pin11 - C15 - R16+R17 - Speaker)

          • Yes,
C15 is installed incorrectly on board. Must be reversed and + be to pin 11 of the processor.

These are 2 totally different requirements.
It is much easier to detect the iron plate than to detect fine gold.
You will need 2 different coils for this.
For gold, depending on the size, you will need a relatively small coil with very little capacitance ( a "fast" coil ) - look in the coil specific section here, people tend to use insulated litze wire or even coax cable for this (in the shell of a very small nut: separation = less capacitance between windings = faster...).
For the large iron target, the 50 cm coil should give you enough depth to break your back while digging.
With a 25 cm coil I was able to detect an iron petanque ball ( diameter 80 mm ) at 1 meter deep in sand ground. That is the moment I thought I had found an old cannon ball...
In general, PI detectors like to detect iron.

              • STAY CLEAR fo the eBay pickit 3's I bought one they self erase for fun and require constant reprogramming with a PICKIT 2!! Go figure!

Best buy GENUINE Pickit 2 and not have the hassles.

                  Hi Bernard
                  Hi toros
Yes you re right c15 is inverted!!!!!!! +to pin 11 of the pic
I ve corrected it and i will post the good one soon
                  Have Nice day

                  • Thats not all (C15 inverted). Lock the Photo, there is another mistake.

                      hi wurttemberger
thanks for pointing this.i appologize about this.
i give you the corrected pcb (c15 and r16,r17)

                          hi bernard
                          hi bernte
                          really fresh pcb!!!!!
thats fine!!! lays are very small betwen resistor smd pads!!!
maybe i could make pcb a little longest to have a better ground plan near regulator
i saw a mistake on pickit header,it does not appear??? only ground???
i ll done mine with toner transfer method and acid + peroxid + water (good epson toner, not refiled cartridge) i ll print it at work LOL
the shell are perfect!!! how about thickness?
is this vaccum forming??? it look like
                          very good job

                          • Thank u bernard for your patient.pickini v4 deferences with v1and2 and v3 is only in the hex file?and pcb and parts of v4 is the same as v1and2 and v3?because i want to build v4.
                            Thank u

Wish I had the skills / equipment to make these.

                              Best regards,

They are very good. I would say even excellent.
What material you use. How is it called.
