No idea why you would want lower voltage ?
Most people use 3 x LiIon 16850 in series to achieve a 12V power supply.
Old laptops are a free source for these batteries - and they have plenty of capacity to search for many hours in a row without recharging.
Also lower voltage means less current through the coil.
The 6f22 9V blocks don't have enough capacity and too high impedance to deliver the current needed in a PI detector.

Yes, have a look at the schematic of Pickini V1 :

I had a question, it's an idea. the microcontroller has 2 loose contacts 6 and 7. why not use them for the control button instead of the potentiometer.? sensitivity control with one button. make an electronic potentiometer as a macro-pointer, such as a chim. One press decreases and the double increases gradually the current by sen.
eg 6 exit for the button, 7 output to the potentiometer. through the transistor. if it is possible to implement in this case with this controller, then it would be just super. so we solve the problem with tightness in the underwater version and simplify the control of the settings.
for example 5-6 steps of sensitivity, 15-20% adds each step. each stage of sensitivity is accompanied by a number of signals. for example, the first one is a peak signal, the maximum is one long or 5-6 peak-peak.
spied on the options of LED brightness control..

Nice idea, but pin 7 is already in use as a LED output = detection indicator. Have a look at post #450 of this thread.
You have access to the source code.
Feel free to modify it to support your pushbutton controls and please share the code / schematic with us when it works.
Whe you are still looking for a low voltage solution, have a look at Teemo's pulse oscillation detector:

unfortunately I do not know how to program. I only know how to construct and collect. Therefore I ask you to do so, if possible. because before this firmware did not use output 7 and 6.
The more options for a metal detector, the better. because everyone chooses the right one for himself. I could stimulate you (Donat), if that interests you.
and so will have to use additional chips, and this entails an increase in the size of the board and the number of parts.
