    Is pickit2 can be use to upload hex? Its cheaper than pickit3, i see from net it dont support16f1824. Parts is on the way from china.
    Newer Microchip devices are not supported by Pickit 2.
    I have the Pickit 3 programmer for over 5 years now and so far it works fine, so I should go for a Pickit 3 when you want to buy a programmer.

      If the PICKit 2 says it's an unsupported device, you can switch to manual mode in the menu. The only difference is that you cannot automatically verify the hex has loaded correctly. You should also check that you have the latest firmware loaded into the PICKit2.

      However, if you don't already have a programmer, it's advisable to get a PICKit3.

          hi all
          hi bernt nice to read you

          for ripdevala if pickit2 don t offer you the possibility to choose pic16f1824 you have to update the devices files (i ve made it and it works)

          i join you the .lay file of pickini shorter 50x100mm and a picture of it,it perhaps be smallest but fit well with my 3d printed 3x18650 battery pack.
          i modify it with ground surface and thermal pads i have the same without sprind layout automatic ground surface (ground surface hand made)

          i want to thanks f117 it s a veryyyyyyyy good job, good metal detector and it s very kind to him to give us freeeeee!!! so THANKS A LOT BERNARD!!!!!!!

                      @Arionas & Nick Holas:
                      NICE WORK with the smaller footprint PCB

                      1 remark on the PCB component layout of Arionas: screenshot_1.jpg: The symbol of the LM318 is upside down.
                      The layout itself however is OK.

                      Best regards,
                      - Bernard
