  • Cant open the video
I tried with Chromium and Firefox. Both worked fine.
It is an .ogg video file.

    • Added a .mov file = H264, next to the ogg format.
I assume that one of the 2 should work in your browser.

          • Video worked fine for me. Volume was Ok too. Thanks very much Bernard. Can you estimate at what distance it can detect that coin on the rock please?
I have been busy, but I am reasonably confident to burn the chip, now understanding jumpers, and thanks to the information from 6666, which I have now had time to digest.

A 10 Eurocent coin is harder to detect with a PI detector than a (smaller) 5 cent coin, that is basically copper clad iron.
The 10 ct coin can be detected at 20-25 cm with the 28 cm (11 " ) coil you see in the video. A 5 ct coin ( the iron one ) will give slightly more depth.
The main disadvantage of this coil is that I sometimes end up digging deep holes to retrieve a soda can...

              • Thanks Bernard. That is OK, but maybe some tweaking is required. Still a great project well worth pursuing,. I will be trying a smaller and lower inductance coil first.

                    • What have you made to hear this loudy sound??
                      Small amp (lm386,tda2822 maybee???)
                      Thanks
                      (Sorry for double post)

                      • What have you made to hear this loudy sound??
The sound recording is just the built-in microphone of the camera and a small loudspeaker connected to the headpone jack.
The quality is bad, because you can't hear the 1 Hz idle tick, for instance...

Looking forward to see your creation !

                        Regards,
                        - Bernard

                        • small amp

what do you think about that?
                          pcb 20x20x5mm
found lm386 smd on micro wave oven pcb and some smd capacitor too ,so i think that it could be adapt for free for pickini.
i made this pcb from web scheme,do you think it is correct?
                          thanks

                          • Nick,

Most headphones have an impedance > 20 ohms.
If you connect them to the Pickini4 PCB, the sound is good / loud. You could decrease the 2 series resistors of 1K ( R16 and R17) in the original schematic, to have an even louder sound.
To me, with the headphones I normally use, the 1K resistor is a tradeoff between going deaf and hearing the beep.
Normally, you would not need an extra amplifier. The beep is digital: beep = 1kHz and dig, or no beep / the 1 Hz idle tick.

                            Regards,
                            - Bernard

                              • C12 should be 10 microfarad.
I adapted the parts list here:

                                Thanks for pointing this out
