  • [QUOTE=fekemil;245450 I ordered an USBasp programmer, which I think good to program this IC. I have a blank IC, do I need program bootloader in it? I think the answer is no, because this is not Arduino.
    Thanks[/QUOTE]
yes it is not ardunio and a boot loader is not required however u need to program the blank chip with andys s/w

    • Thank you, I skip the bootloader.
I put the circuit under power, its power consumption is around 70 mA. But with search coil attached, its going up to 1 amp. There is no negative voltage on the pin 5 of LT1054. Strange...
If I changed the resistance of the R26 potmeter, the voltages are also changed on the pins of the Atmega IC socket. Is it for this purpose? Keep the voltage on the IC below 5.5V?

      • My fault, there is negative voltage on the LT1054, but only -8V, and is constantly decreasing. LT1054, NE5534 and R13 are warm.

Is the TX PULSING with correct Width and frequency??
          Check with your O'scope.

          • Thanks for the idea, I'm not there yet. But after I soldered the buttons, there is -11,3V on pin5 LT1054. That was the problem

            • I tried to program the Atmega328P but no success. I have used Extremeburner with USBasp. I could write the hex, but after I tried to write the fuse bits there was an error message. After that the program could not communicate with the mc. Every fuse bits was exatly as it should be, I double checked everything. Now I have 2 died mc's. I did a test to see if it works, but only one line black square is on the LCD.
I still have a problem with the enormous power consumption of the search coil when I plug it into the circuit. I'm stuck.
I think it's time to let go this project

              • My bad. I had to add two 22pF capacitor and a 16MHz crystal, now I can easily program the Atmega328P.

The circuit still not working. There is 11.7V on the search coil pins. Static sound from the spaker, static picture on the LCD

Any idea? Where can I start the debugging? I can borrow an oscilloscope.

                • Borrow the O'scope and check oscillator and then the Pulse output from the Atmega.
                  O'scope is a must.

                      • 1. I am using Atmel Studio 4.1 for programming 328p, The settings shown for Ponyprog are for 328, not 328P. Does anyone know the fuse settings for Atmel Studio4? the settings shown for Ponyprog are different than Atmel studio4.1 2. the layfile shows a capacitor X next to MCP3201. Should this part be ommitted?

                        • in my archive v32 (attached above) there are fusebits setting for 328P

The settings in Atmel studio are different than the program you used.Avrdude? Anyway I got it working, but the depth is very poor. maybe because of the gain stage you ommitted? I used the coil as on your website, and the latest firmware.

                            • what do you mean by "gain stage is ommited". Did you use exactly the same circuits as on my schematic?

I made Ozzy board, from your website, followed your schematic, ommited Q9, Q6, everything seems to work but poor distance.
