  • It did pshiiit with a little smoke : help me for a surf pi 1.2 kit

    Hello,

I built a metal detector based on a surf kit pi 1.2.
Once finished, putting it into service, I heard a little "clack" and saw a little smoke coming out of the place I surrounded ...

I surrounded another place in the photo because I saw on some sites that there was a bridge sometimes at this place. Is that the case ? should I add it?

I will need your help to know if I made mistakes in some places.
    Thank you.

Here are the other images of the mounted kit.

PS: I'm French, try not to use too specific language ...

Since that is a protection diode across the input, I suspect you may have connected the battery supply back-to-front.
Also, your soldering leaves a lot to be desired. I can see several dry joints and solder blobs.

The solder joints are very bad, all re-solder.
Check that all components are soldered correctly

i got in repair delta pulse board with sure same solder. all solder points are the same. resoldered all board and wasted very much time.

what the solder is who know? it stretches like a snot and leaves sharp humps.

ok, as I understand it, my welds are not good. I will resume the worst.
Qiaozhi, I do not understand the connection of battery "back to front". What do you mean ?
Of course, I guess the diode is to change. I have to change other pieces?
Is it possible to do tests without power? which ?

yes, of course. we have op amp tester in the arsenal of possibilites.

NE555 tester you can buy on this link just for 2USD https://www.banggood.com/DIY-Digital...r_warehouse=CN

about transistor tester that checks all look CHINESE TOYS thread.

I can see that you have D6 inserted the correct way round. So, if the diode smoked, then you must have connected the battery backwards.

If you are using lead-free solder, stop right now. This is not a commercial mass-produced product, so use proper 60-40 solder with good wholesome lead in it.

You don't have to resolder the board. Just redo some of the really bad ones. Get a good solder sucker gizmo if you don't already have one. Make sure that there are no short circuit between soldered joints. Clean board from flux. Recheck all polarities of caps and diodes(correct orientation.)make sure all chips are installed correct orientation etc).Change diode and she will be alive.

Or use a soldering iron that specifically says it can be used with lead-free solder.
Antex soldering irons (for example) state this in their blurb.

Buy a little jar of rosin or try flux paste on all soldering. Supposed to all melt and flow nicely.
Get these items from an electronics supply place not a hardware store.

[QUOTE = Qiaozhi; 255946] Je vois que vous avez ins?r? D6 dans le bon sens. Donc, si la diode a fum?, vous devez avoir connect? la batterie ? l'envers. [/ QUOTE]
I thought about it, and I reversed the poles of the battery, but by reconnecting, the diode still smoked ...

after, once she has smoked, she may be dead, so it's probably normal.

I only have to find a new one without paying 20 times more shipping costs

sorry but seems you would have to bring the board to your buddy with more electronics skill.
how the germans say 'all doing by russians are bad. one only you are able to do good that is to do your children'.

I am German, but I do not say that.
The good times in Germany are over ....

No, I use solder with lead. 60% tin.

I search a new diode, and I renew my welds. I hope It will work.

Sorry, but I don't have friend able to do it, I have to make by myself. And I don't understand your proverb at all...
