  • Thus, this resistor is not on the board/look at the PDF/. Question - will it work without it? It is not a problem to solder from below. Thank you!

That it works without it... I tried that later. When one of you has finished the device, I will explain some details, a certain problem will appear, but I will explain that in the end when you assemble the pcb! I will repeat for the third time the pcb is without error.

That's why I didn't share, since I have information that Thomas no longer sells the device, I put the schematic and pcb. The second reason is that I mistakenly gave as a friend, that is, I thought that he would not abuse my trust. I didn't sell a single copy! Because I promised the author I wouldn't do that!
Thomas, the designer of Pulse Star, was here many years ago around 2005 and was posting. But later it disappeared. I hope that he is well and can make a new post here again so that we can benefit from his experiences. I thank Thomas.
I would also like to thank you, Mr. Orbit, for all the hard work you put into reverse engineering the Pulse Star.

                • Hello everyone
In the upper and left side of the schematic of the main circuit of the metal detector, there are two led that are controlled by two bc327 transistors. Considering that the circuits of these two are exactly the same, what is the reason for using two diodes and for what purpose?

                  • One shines on iron, the other on noble, the instructions state that discrimination works for objects larger than 10cm! Although in practice we cannot rely on discrimination. This also applies to Puls Star 2 Pro!The signal for iron comes from the main channel from the mother board, and for precious metals from the small board, it is connected to the base bc 337, where the input is also for all metal, i.e. iron!

But in the schematic, the signal of both transistors is from one point.

Али у шеми, сигнал оба транзистора је из једне тачке.[/КУОТЕ]

Жао нам је што иде преко 10к отпорника до базе бц 327 са Цон 3.

                        • Question:
If we compare the schematic of this metal detector and Lorenz pulse5 metal detector, it seems that the design of this circuit is more professional, especially in the discrimination of metals, but the fet transistor used in the driver of the search coil, Here we have irf640, but in the Lorenz irfp460, (irfp460 is better than from irf640(power and other parameters of the transistor)).
Is it possible to say that in terms of discrimination , Pulse Star 2 is better than Lorenz Pulse 5, but in terms of depth of metal detection, lp5 is better than ps2?
Please, friends who had practical experience of using these two metal detectors, share their experiences.

First, there is no best PI metal detector. Each circuit has advantages and disadvantages. I had Pulse Star 2 years ago. Its separation section sometimes had errors and did not function accurately. Also, better separation has nothing to do with the type of output transistor. Pulse Star and Lorenz 5 are old designs. In new PI designs, using new techniques, the separation performance in the PI method has been improved.
If you are looking for a better resolution... Pulse Star and Lorenz 5 are not responsive.

                            • I had both in my hands, for repair and for research in the field. You can't say that one is better than the other, each has its pros and cons. The LP5 goes deeper and responds better to small targets, but it does not have the stability of the PS2, so for areas like ours, Greece, the Balkans, etc., with a lot of rock with ore, and for easier use, I recommend the PS2,
the LP5 has no competitor in terms of deep and for northern Europe countries it is a far better choice.
