  • What DIY PI-detector do you recommend to build?

    What DIY metal detector would you recommend building today?
    It should be a pulse induction type with a microcontroller.
    What i found so far are the Felezjoo and the Clone PI (AVR).
    However there are maybe more and better ones out there?

    Also read about limited firmware use (limited power-on cycles!?) of some detectors?

      Check my thread on the HH2.
      https://www.geotech1.com/forums/show...ake-on-the-HH2

      It uses a PIC processor to produce all timing pulses and has GEB.
      A second PIC produces a variable audio tone.
      All source code is in the thread.

        better in what? 3 meters depth on gold plate 15x15 cm?

          Thanks for your replies guys.
          Since i had the parts on hand, i quickly built a Clone PI (AVR) yesterday.
          So far i am happy with the sensitivity.
          As you might expect, next step would be to have some sort of discrimination.
          Is it correct, that the Felezjoo detector supports it and has anyone experience with it?

            you can get a bit of metal separation by tone and id number but you can not discrimate with feleezjo

              What sort of sensitivity are you achieving? What time to sample are you getting?

                  Guard interval (auto detected) = 14
                  A 1 Euro coin is detected at 25 cm.

                  Coil + cable data measured with VNA:
                  ========================
                  Turns = 20
                  Diameter = 240 mm
                  L = 340 uH
                  Rs = 2,4 Ohm
                  Cp = 190 pF
                  SRF = 629 kHz

                    Wow that was quick construction.
