yupy i agree Bernd. good one for its money. no unlimited depth through Mother Planet
from one continent to another one they want to get. no 5km gold vision distance in mountaints, for 40 euro.
      simplest, effective, turn-on and go.

i think mdfantic must learn what is 'the basket coil'. i did esspecial thread
telling for beginners all step-by-step methodics. https://www.geotech1.com/forums/show...l-for-baracuda

I guess I was expecting more than I should have, I was carried away by all the hype on the Internet about the PI-W so I thought I could get at least 1.30-1.50 with 60cm coil for a 35cm oven pan on air.
And that's when I realized I had too many expectations for a low-budget MD that is supposed to be turn-on-and-go although I agree it's a very fine machine for the price.

kt315 I have read your posts about the basket coil and I will build a big basket coil once I build a deep seeking detector.

Has anyone built a 60-80cm basket coil before? Some info about the turns or windings in such a big coil would be really helpful.

Well, only if you want to recieve radio signals from Jupiter.
Usualy basket coil are used for small targets only. Smal targets have short signal decay and fast coil such as basket or flat coil have fast decay to and did not overlap with target signal. I think if i made big basket coil i automaticly convert my PI detector to AM Medium wave radio reciever, becouse of big size and wide bandwidth.

Yeah I know It was a rookie-stupid idea and I realized it after I couldn't edit my post
Although I thought that spider coil and basket coil is the same thing, silly me

just today i went to a lady who bought old soviet radio for just 8 euro on a market. she asked why there are not 'russian radiostations'
she was not able to tune. i answer that all stations had LEFT Long Wave Range and Middle Range years ago.
she is not understanding why. also her receiver does not have FM range.
no belarusian stations, no russian, nothing. just she hears 'romanian station in russian' somewhere at Short waves.

Yes all about AM stations is true. But here in Ukraine we have half megawatt AM transmitter stoped transmission just due to electricity debts . This transmitter (РЦ Луч) was used in cold war era and work on vacuum tubes at 549 kHz until 2019. Signal can be heared in Egypt and i can recive it just by oscilloscope at 50 mV division with nice synchronization, at a distance of about 70 km. Nowadays this frequency are silent, but wil be in work soon or not...
Thats why i do not love much big basket coils.

i googled and found that all radiostations of Minsk city had left Long Middle and Short waves in 2016. now there are just FM stations.

For what its worth, I seem to recall reading many years ago that the PI-W, was meant for use in sea water, (W = water) thus all the timings were long, and had to be modified for land use
