Hi Ivconic, today i m still dealing with my surfmaster PI MD, this is working good, but with poor sensitivity, so now i m trying to find the problem.
My question is , what cable should i have to use btw coil and circuit. I have heard thar coaxial cable like RG-58 is good, but in other PI projects i have used ordinary 300 ohms tv cable and also electrical cord, that shows me that PI machines seems to work ok.
So can you tell me your opinion about this.

Please just one question about coils. I have the Pulse Star II with the 1 by 1 meter coil.
Now i will like to make a small coil for it, let´s said 21 cms. My question is, if i make the coil conserving the inductance and resistance of the 1 by 1 meter coil, should it works or this values changes depending on the size of coils?

Today i wound 30 wind. on 20 cm , o.4mm wire...Well, i am not thrill with it
but it can detect 2cm coin on 28-29cm...almost done.What to say?
What ever result i get, always want some more..I keep thinking is it possible
to do 20cm coil to detect 2 cm coin over 35cm!? Only one detector i saw can
do that...Relic Hawk...coin is made from mixture of Cu and brass...Hard to test
with! O.K. when you try it please post results here.

Hi to all freinds.
I want ask a question.please help me.i have built delta pulse.all part of this unit works good separatly but performance of whole unit is poor.
i'v built a 11" coil for it with 35 turn(1mH).high votage(about 300 v) decay at 20 ~ 25us and i have removed T2,T3 and their resistors.with this change i have a 23us delay time. all other waves are correct too.i have seen them with scope.all pots works properly.but i have poor result in my workshop and i have seen many noise on amplified wave on pin 6 of D4.i ask you is this possible it be because of these noises?and can i have better result on real field?i ask you because in our country these devices are banned and we cant take it out every time.

Whats your operation frequency, in power lines and in your MD ????... may be you have the problem in this factor.

as I promised to demonstrate some result with DP so you can see that. but enough poor on value the things has of DP shows fantastic sensitivity. seems there was not limit on a deep it does. it took a bike carcass on more than 2,5 m. DP has really more sens than TF-900, all signals were been searched by both detectors.

hi to all and thank you diminute.
in our country we have 50HZ power lines and my detector runs at 135Hz.
i see many noises that travel easily on my waves.i can detect a 1Ltr metal bottle at only 40 cm.can this be better out?

Geo already answered to your question.

I dubt that tiny could use 3uS as first delay... never seen anything under 7uS that works. Maybe you've made some error measuring it or used a wrong reference.

Original DP design used a frequency around 100Hz... for XR-71 , that's about the same thing... little differences, frequency is around 400Hz (if I remember well).
That's why these machines were intended for depth search of big objects at meters underground.

DP have a lower frequency cause mounted a large coil as default, XR-71 had more frequency cause was a mix-use intended machine... used also in civil engineering to find underground pipes etc.

When you design a PI for detecting small objects you need a short first delay (usually 15uS or less), then the first sample occours (often width from 15 to 45uS), then the inter-delay that is something great (>100uS, often 200 or more), then the second sample (same width as first sample so 15-45uS).

In a modified e.g. delta pulse you could increase frequency to 400+ Hz (even 1KHz or more)... then reduce the TX-on time to e.g. 50-100uS, giving you a duty factor of 5-10%... that's good without wasting too current for nothing.

Good timings could be then something like these:
f = 1KHz
TX-on pulse width 100uS
duty-factor 10%
1st delay 15uS
1sample width 45uS
interdelay 200uS
2sample width 45uS

That way you'll get small gold items with a good fast monocoil say 8'' or 10'' round.

Everything, gold rings, silver etc will sound good and of course iron !
Also some thick foil.

But then you'll get same problems that you know with iron oxides or ceramics... then is a big problem where there are these things.
