  • White's TDI coils

I have a White's TDI SL with the original 12 dual field coil, the Super Pulse and the small 6" dual field coil. I'm hunting for a 12" mono coil. I would like to know exactly what pure mono coils will work with this machine. I mostly hunt around old schools where the coal waste has been discarded over the school grounds for decades. These areas have all but completely shutdown every VLF detector I've ever had. A pure mono coil will greatly help with eliminating some of the so call "hot rocks" in these areas. Now just to share, all the heavy gold rings have been found using the TDI. A pure mono coil should be lighter than the 12" dual field coil I have.
    Thanks in advance.

I do have a spare never used 12" OZ mono coil for Whites TDI.
In fact I got 2 OZ Mono coils, one came with my TDI and one with the SPP.
I mostly use DD, or F8 coils, hence the spare.

Since starting this hunt I had a guy that is sending me the Tarsacci detector to try in my bad land areas. The owner/engineer stated it would perform equal to or better than the TDI in my areas and the Tarsacci has discrimination too. Looking forward to it arriving tomorrow. But I like the TDI so much I can't conceive ever selling it. To me it is a very pleasant detector to use, even without discrimination so to speak.

I finally got a Minelab 11" Commander mono coil. Heavier than the 12" dual field but it seems to be working good.

TDI-sl will of course work with commander coil, but the consumption is much higher because the output mosfet will overheat a lot!I don't see a reason why not to make a coil, because it is not a mystery at all to make any kind of coil for a pi detector.. This would save on battery consumption..

One thing for sure, Minelab has put the heaviest and most ridged coil cable I've ever had. Made for extreme current pulses for sure. Got it at very good price from a guy who had sold his detector and didn't need it any more.

Nowadays the TDI SL (paige color not black) is being sold with CoilTek coils.
Good news for gold prospectors and treasure hunters around the globe…Whites Electronics exciting TDI SL pulse detector was intentionally designed to use any coil that Minelab pulse detectors use and Coiltek is a global leader in coil development.

                    and? need a link?

I'm a die hard White's Electronics Customer and user and I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd see the day White's closed it's doors and sold out to rival Garrets. That is like selling the USA to Russia to me. I feel let down by White's after years of sticking by them. Garrets says they will service White's products but as for Whit's technology, I believe it will disappear under Garrets. Garrets may have the White's Intellectual property and right s to White's patents but it will in my opinion matter little as A Garrets Detector is not a White's and never will be.

I believe most (if not all) owners of Whites' detectors feel the same. Great machines, great times, great People. What more could one ask for?

Anyway, what do you think about these Paige TDIs with their CoilTek coils? I mean are they different from the original black ones? And why were they manufactured without the coils we used to?
