  • PI frame coil and dumping resistor

    Hi all
I would like to ask you guys if i can adjust the dumping resistor across my frame coil just by monitoring the output Tx signal across the frame coil itself. I just don't want to open my new PI device for locating the output of the preamp for doing that.

Although I'm no expert, I believe there's no other way to find the damping capacitor value, unfortunately.

Thank you sir. I am also not an expert but i can't see any reson for not being able to see the ripple even straight across the coil. I hope that Qiaozhi will share his experience on that.

You can see the response at the TX coil but not with as much resolution. So when you think you have good damping the output of the preamp might still be ringing.
A possible suggestion: Set the sample delay to minimum and look at target depth while adjusting the damping resistor. Adjust for max depth.
