    hello everyone
I am a beginner, and have just finished my first PI detector (PIRAT PI)
We will say that it works but no more
I would like to try modifications but would like your opinion

"...We will say that it works but no more..."

does not seek the promised gold nuggets and Atocha Gold. the people always is trying to repeat something 'simplest of simple floating around in global net'
but just got waste of time.

Why would you try to modify a circuit that you barely know how it works?

The Pirat PI is just a simple metal detector and that's all there is to it.
If you want more depth, you should try a different project/circuit.

          Don't be so strict!
          I like the idea.
To start from something so simple and modest and build further... a great way to learn by doing it!

fully agree. PIRAT is an experimental detector, open hardware. nothing more. yes, i gave the info but never suggested to build it.
also, BARA is simplest PI, in reality. I can order again new batch in 20 pcs boards, covering all worldwide requests on 3 years ahead.

the people are waiting PULSE STAR II schematic like a winter project doing. NOT the Pirat.

Written word can be easily misuderstood, I didn't mean to be strict but reasonable.
He'll just waste his time trying to modify something that does not meet his expectations in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I started tinkering with electronics for the same reason as ducran_lapoigne (I wanted to modify a Clone-PI W kit) and I've spent many hours reading, learning and experimenting and I'm just trying to save his time and frustration.

Although I believe that you've got to start somewhere (nobody was born with knowledge) you can do it while building something that produces results and meets your expectations.

My little socio-psychological experiment with the project buyout offer for Depth Doubler showed the true state of mind of the people here.
They are not even ready to join forces, each to give a trivially small amount, so that everyone gets one fantastically good and useful project.
I knew that before, but I wanted to show and prove to everyone what they are like.
I've been giving pearls to pigs for years.
What do I get out of it? I don't even have basic respect.
When they talk about "successful" projects and list the names of "deserving" people who enriched this forum with good projects; my name is nowhere, nobody remembers me.
Facts and forum statistics are worthless for them.
Nothing is worth a million views to a topic since the moment I started TGSL there, the project that the most people in the world have made in the history of the world.
Not only is it passed over as if it doesn't exist, but other names are attached to my works and others are given credit for what I did.
I feel like I won't be good enough for anyone even if I do 100 times more.
A very good "reality check" for me! Very useful sobriety!
That's a sociological-psychological-mentality x-ray picture of the state of mind in people.
That's why PS2 will never happen.
That's why the Depth Doubler will never happen.
That's why another 10 incredibly interesting projects will never happen.
I've played the "useful fool" enough to everyone.
In the future, only money talk will be important.
                    Very serious money talk!
And you, my dear Anatoly (you never dreamed that you are actually dear to me) continue to be a "useful fool" to everyone!
Or wise up and learn from my example!

ivconic why don't you open a topic with projects you would like to sell?

Don't expect people to search through the whole forum to find your posts where you're saying you sell these projects.
If you don't make a move by yourself (open a topic to sell stuff), It's like waiting for an appointent that only you know.

Don't worry, I'm not going to reinvent pirat pi just experiments that will never be put in a enclosure
I just received the NH-173 kit from new hobby
just missing sockets for the ICs

It doesn't come with sockets, you'll have to buy them separately.

You should replace the LF355 that comes with the kit with a genuine LF357 if you can find (I can give you some links).

Pay extra attention to the holes for the coil, they're around 0.5-0.6mm and troublesome to swap coils (I've managed to rip the vias on an attempt to swap coils). In other words, if you intent to swap coils, just desolder them from the side of the coil, not the PCB.

Other than that, it's a solid machine and whatever you'd expect from a Delta Pulse copy.
