Hi hunter63,
If you will developing PCB, use please revision F1 . This solution use two 18650 LiPo accumulators and only 10 integral schemes. Also this solution use static searching - this is important for relative heavy searching head.
Attached is the schematic of this revision.Attached Files

Hi hunter63,
PI+M DET. BALANCE 5 is designed for objects bigger than 1g. Not for grain weight objects. Power supply is from two 18650 LiPo accumulators. The range of the voltage is 6V-8.4V. No PWM DC/DC convertors in "Fe" mode. In this mode the detector have to be absolutely quiet - for max sensitivity in this mode working as gradiometer. In "ALL metals" mode works only one DC/DC converter for -32V.

Hello
You have a message on PM.
A magnettrometer is an arrangement of protons along the Earth's field (the core medium is distilled water or kerosene)
I suggest that this is some kind of gradiometer, but I must admit that the range of this device is not as large

Hello,
A proton precession magnetometer is only one type of units for measuring of the magnetic field. Have many other types of magnetometers. Induction coil is one of the unit for measuring of the magnetic field.
Using of two induction coils in gradiometric connection is also possible for way to react on magnetic field. All metal targets with Fe contents made second magnetic field as reaction of primary magnetic field of the Earth.
But yes - you are right - the sensitivity in "Fe" mode is less than in "All metal" mode. But when detector reacts on the target in "Fe" mode - it is 100% sure - the object haves Fe content.

In reality, it is not possible to detect objects as 1grain (appr. 1/20gram) on 5cm simultaneously. Usually this size is recognized at 15-25mm with best detectors. More big objects are recognized on bigger distance.
What really is your aim? Give more information for size, type and for type of soil.
