  • My new PI

    Hello everyone.
I have been working on this project for a long time and it is finally finished.
At the moment it is not a commercial project and I don't know if it will ever be.
For now I am doing tests and perhaps some improvements.
The detector has an ESP32 and the software can be updated via WI-FI.
I am attaching the photos and a video of the tests in my electronics workshop.

    Best regards,

    Nice Job,

make it commercial and one day MineLab or their competitors will knock at your door and want to buy your invention. Be prepared...

Thank you very much for giving your opinion.
I find it difficult for Minelab to be interested in my humble project.
Minelab has many resources, which I don't have and in the meantime I enjoy this nice hobby, because I like pulse detectors a lot.
I am willing to exchange projects, in case anyone is interested. I have two more projects apart from this one.
A very deep detector with very good discrimination, digital VLF, with only one encoder, with a 128x64 LCD screen, with a frequency of 13KHz and another low frequency PI detector (600HZ+/- for objects at great depth.
I offer the source code of all my projects, the schematics and the designs of the PCBs.
The programming is done in Arduino.
I don't want money in exchange, I just want to exchange my projects for other projects related to PI metal detectors that interest me.
      I listen to offers.
      My email: [email protected]
      Best regards,
      Eduardo.

Thank you very much Altra for your kind words.
Tomorrow I want to try the detector in a place where gold nuggets often come out. If I find any nuggets, I will post photos. The truth is that the area is very busy with detectorists who are dedicated to looking for gold nuggets.

I'm really impressed with the build quality!
For a "hobbyist" this is too good a job.
How did you make the enclosure? Mold casting or...?
Which LCD display is it? 128x64 but which controller?
Is it easy to get that display?
As far as detector performance is concerned, I am not competent enough to judge when it comes to "fast" PI detectors because I have not dealt with them the least so far.
But in layman's terms I can say that I really like the behavior.
                  In any case; I'm impressed!
The problem is that I have nothing to offer you in return because when we talk about PI detectors; I have nothing exclusive and new on that topic.
I believe that you already have everything on that topic because you deal with that type of detector.
Maybe you should think about commercializing that project and making a lot of money.
A colleague from China has been telling me for months that there is a sudden increase in interest in such PI detectors in China.
In China, there is a sudden increase in prospectors with detectors and most are very interested in "fast" PI that is adapted to search for gold nuggets.
I was quite surprised when I realized how many Minelab detectors were sold in China!
But the prices are very hot as usual when we talk about Minelab!
I believe that this is your chance, if you offer such or a similar detector to the Chinese market at a much more competitive price.
It is not easy to do business in China.
For 3 months I have been having huge problems with very trivial things.
But your detector works so well, that I am fully convinced that you will find your way to the Chinese market much easier.

                    Hello Ivconic.
The casing is actually two casings put together and trimmed so that the two form a single casing. The front cover is made of membrane sticker made here in Spain. The screen is an LCD type with 256x128 pixels. The rear casing is made of Hammond brand aluminum. The 16.8V/3400mAh Lithium batteries, the power supply, the speaker, the On-Off switch and the battery charging connectors and the headphone jack are housed there. The crutch is made of carbon fiber, it is the Goldenmask brand. The piece that joins the casing to the handle of the crutch is a piece designed by me in 3D and manufactured in a Spanish company with FDM printing technology. That's all for now.

Share the schematic so we can know a bit more about the unit.
