  • Ok,2 failed pcbs,printed an etched,no good wasting $$expensive copper here!
the copper circuit diagram does not lend itself very suitable for home, pcb printing an etching, too many very fine copper tracks for my liking.plenty of unused copper on pcb, track size should have been expanded to make wider, easier tracks to print an etch without breaks an hand fill in?
Start Again!may have to dump this original design for artwork into another software track layout program an edit to suit, better track widths.Placement for components seems ok though!

    • Hi Rov,
You're right....I missed a pcb too. Some tracks are thin and that's because of the ground plan. You may want to design a pcb using star topology methode rather than ground plane.
The new schematic below indicates different grounds for that job:

And also the pin Sync is connected to Q6. By this way, the PB2 can be implemented to generate a frequency twice the PB1's, so the frequency of DC converter will be the same with the detector.

      • Hi 1843,thanks for that info above, will keep it in mind.
Of the 2 pcb Ive etched ,ive chosen the best to drill an a few corrupt, poor tracks will just manually jump on the board with wire carefully.an then Proof all tracks thoughly under a X5 Mag.lense. I have all the components on hand an an assortment of coils to try. Then the programming of the Atmel Chip?I have a few of these ,but with the micro its good that you can reprogram them multiple times ,unless you make the mistake of Lock the code .
        I will persist! Thanks.

          • Download the new pcb, copper side. Now that looks better! Thanks! much Appreciate this.
Better Lazer Print it an check the sizing,an iron on some copper for a backup.Looks easier to hand fill in if any track breaks before etching.Very Good.

Unfortunately this revised layout (where the copper pour has been removed) is not suitable, as it does not use a star topology for the ground.

The original layout has signal tracks of 15 thou, power tracks of 50 thou, and track spacing of 10 thou. This should be within the capabilities of most amateur home constructors.

              • To Late! Ive already etched one,the new copper layout.drilling it now.
If it fails ,Well I suppose You told me So!Thanks!

                  That's OK for testing...!

                  • to get precision sample timing, we need some to program atmega in direct asembler.
                    not basic or c

The syncing resistor is connected to PL2. (The reason is as the Pulse-Width is varying over the time, it may causes some instability.)
The frequency of PB2 is doubled.
                      R28=10K.
Please have a look at the schematic, the backlight circuit is modified:

bit by bit, will get there?Cheers! everybody!

A half built board... I don't have enough time to complete it. maybe in the summer...

                          Have fun!

Hehe, this board isn't belonged to PI-111 ! But later I will be using it for testing PI-111.
