Soldering R11 and R25 Resistors in place question

I just fixed soldering resistors in place. Afterwards, thought about R11 and R25 solder pads.
Don't remember if there was a trace connecting the two on top or if the solder pads were touching and the two resistor leads were to be soldered together or they were supposed to be separated on top. I know I bridged the two leads on one board but can't tell for sure on the other two even with a 16x jewelers loop. Taking a picture of the two boards looks like they are not bridged.

Any clarity would be helpful as I can't tell from the orig. PCB pictures I took.
Let me know so I can correct the board before I move any further.

Hello Sven,

No problem if you made a "solderbridge" on the top layer, at the bottem layer the resisters are connected, both resistors are connected to +5 volt.
At the most down jpg the top layer is turned off...

That photo of the detector in the first post has 1 more control, a push button, and a yellow thing that I can't make out. What did you add to the standard design here?

Is there a link to a setup page for this kit? I have assembled all but the variable resistors (potentiometers) onto the board, but I am not sure which ones need to be brought out for manual controls. In the Whites Surf PI, there are only 2 controls (this kit has a volume control, which the Whites Surf PI does not have) - and yet I see some builds where it looks like the controls are all brought out. The delay probably does not get changed after setting it up. I don't plan to use the on board variable resistors unless that section does not get adjusted often.

Anyone who has built this with external variable resistors, I'd would love to see a picture of what you did, and which ones you connected to what. I also noted what looked like some buttons. I can see on/off, but I am not sure what any others would be.

Hello Bob,

You have sound, so there are 'things' working. Put all pots in mid position.
Check now if your tune pot is working, it can be that you have to turn it (counter) clockwise to make the sound go away...

Thanks for the Russian Link. I see that the Offset pot is the only one I will leave on the board. The others will be moved to the case. It also has the following coil info:

My surf pi works but don´t get an continuing sound for example a beeb every 5 sec. or so.
Is it right?- i found no videos. At mine there comes a short sound when tuning (i think it is the right point) and i can detect euro coins at 15cm (i know it could be more but it is a problem of my coil). From other Pi detectors i know a clicking sound at right tunig point.

Can anyone Help?

Hello Bernte,

It is ok that you do not have a clicking sound, but if you use the tune potentiometer then you must get a point that is giving a continuing sound.
The best setting is to the point you just get a little noise.
A euro can be detected around 25 cm, test with the setting from the delay potentiometer.

The PI detectors that have a click output use a VCO. In the Surf this is not the way the audio sound is made. A switch from the 4066 is used to connect the DC output from the lm358 in a freq. from around 660HZ to ground, this make's the 'sound' in a fixed freq.

The test points are for use with a scope, so you can make a little pin there, put it is not needed to do so.

Yes there is a sound but it disappears after a short moment maybe a half second. Sounds like it drifts away. Should i use a fine tuning Poti with more turns? The on i have can only be turn in an ancle of 270 degrees maybe thats not fine enough.
