  • pcb for proscan (just an idea)

    Hello To All;

    It was very interesting reading about the proscan project. A few years ago a friend and I were making art-work so we could photo etch some boards for a project we were working on. We used graphic files and printed them on my laser printed, using clear plastic sheets used for over-head projectors. We used that as our negative, and photo etched some boards for ham radio. The trickest part is to get the printed page scaled to .1 inch which is the lead spacing on IC chips. Would this process work in the proscan project?

    Looks like I'm gonna have to start collecting parts.

    In the ProScan writeup Paulo gives what the final dimensions of arkwork should be. Word processors like to deal with elements in terms of their physical dimensions, so if you pull the jpeg image into a word processor you should be able to get the size perfect on the first try.

    But if you use a printer, shouldn't you print the negative image? Seems like you would want the printed side of the plastic to touch the copper during exposure, otherwise you risk bleedthru at the trace edges.
