  • Metal detector with API data output or other options?

    Hello!

I'm using metal detector (XP Deus at the moment) for a project and I would like to approach it more scientifically. I'd like to be able to perform measurements and pass them into a computer for data processing somehow.

Is there a device on a market that allows that?

Do you mean digitizing the detect's analog signals with an ADC?

If so, then there are many good processors with built in ADCs that can do this.
You will need to specify input Voltage range, ADC bit resolution and sampling rate before choosing a processor.

Check the other threads in this Programming section for suggestions.
Then look for boards with the processor. The Arduino is an example.

There is a device called the Arc-Geo logger that digitizes & logs the audio. It is best used with a static TR-type all-metal mode. The weakness is that it only logs the audio. Ideally, you want to log the X-R data directly off the demodulators so you can also analyze ground phase. The Deus can't do this because it is a direct-sampling system.

Direct sampling is the peak of this technology.
I strive to make my own direct sampling detector.
Too many tech limiting factors on that road; so it is not that easy and simple.
High resolution and fast ADC is most limiting factor for common poor diyer as i am.
          ...
I can design, write and provide logging software for Windows and Android, for decent sum.
Taking into account that such software programming is complex and time consuming.
I work in Cpp mostly. For Android my younger son is a "boss" and he is using Java mostly.
Also i can design logging circuitry based on Atmega, for decent sum too.
Logging circuitry features will be within limits of Atmega capabilities.
Logging the audio output is poor's man solution. Kinda joke.
Or audio must be of highest quality and carrying very precise information.
