  • New To Forum - Need Help

Hi everyone! I'm new here. Does anyone here own a Garrett AM-2 Groundhog ? I need help in hooking the wires up correctly to the battery leads. Need to know which colors go where. Also, Is there supposed to be a wire running from the middle pin on the 5 pin coil connection? This one has 5 pins but only 4 wires hooked up. A good close-up shot of the insides might help too. I can't afford to have it fixed (currently joined with the unemployed of America at the moment). I probably should just send it to Garrett but more than likely it will cost more to fix it than it's worth. Hope to have future chats with many of you. Best wishes, RDF

Welcome onboard! You'd get more attention from people who might know something on the detector, if you noted its name in the topic... Otherwise things will get lost easily in all the messages!

We have some odd photos on the insides of that detector in the archives, but nothing definitive. Battery wiring is usually easy to figure out by the parts connected to it though, could you take clear high res photos from its insides?

The 5 pin connector is likely to only have 4 wires, two for the tx coil and two for the rx coil as an induction balance detector (abbreviated IB here). The coil/cable shield is likely connected to the shell of the connector, if the search head is shielded.
