Foil for shielding, is not recommended. Case graphite. It will be easier to balance the sensor and be stable with heating and cooling.

            Hi smity.
Scotch 24 is not foil. It is an ultra fine Nickel-plated copper braid. I made many coils with it and the results are very good. Also i made many coils with graphite 33 but i prefer this method because it is more easy and quickly. Of course after construction it is easy (if you want) to spray the coils with graphite 33 above the tape.

            • Geo, do a simple check of your screen foil. Bring a piece of this material to the sensor operating unit and look at how the oscilloscope signal at the receiver. Ferrite hardly makes traits, and any metallic foil's affects balance, amplitude, phase. Especially if the transmit portion used serial circuit (high current).

                Ferrite? You mean graphite?

                • I beg your pardon ... Certainly graphite. Holidays with us.

Today I have a little more time to do PCB for this detector. Well I take wrong file. T take file for THT elements not SMD
So if someone need PCB let me know (for free of course). Priority is given to Slovenian user because of ship cost.
LAY is taken direct from author page. I don't know if it the same like here!

                    • Nice PCB SimonS.
If I understand you correctly this THT (DIP) version, as on photos, is surplus, you now offer to interested members?
Then, you in fact intend to build SMD version?
                      You'll need a steady hand.

Geo, there is some delay in construction.
I gave priority some humanitarian calls.
But I hope till to the end of this week new CU-wired coil and DIP board will be ready for tests.
                            I will report results here.

                            • OK.
Also i ordered new ics to replace the other so to stop giving erratic signals.

                              • I use publicity paper. Not so important what you use.
For me is SMD much, much more simply, and less work when solding...
