    Thanks smity.

    I will try this MD-3030 CC coil, cause it is right now available for me here. As I understand author, KROT is very adaptable regarding coils.

    Results will not be taken as final judge how detector perform. My intention is to build proper one coil too.

    I have all needed for coil building according author (Andrei) data, but this will take some more time.

    Here MD-3030 coil data, if you wish to give some additional comments here:

    MD-3030 working frequency = 5.9kHz
    Coil diameter 10", CC type.

    TX coil

    L=2.36mH
    Q=25
    R=5.9E
    Z=148E
    Ctx=160nF (parallel with TX coil)

    RX coil

    L=11mH
    Q=16
    R=44E
    Z=693E
    Crx=51nF (parallel with RX coil)

    • First of all look at the cable ... Here the series resonance. and it means that in a lot of current transmission circuits. Consequently screen to the "hot ends", and a transmitter and receiver in the cable itself (as the block to the coil). Still need dostkp to adjust the balance in the sensor .....

        Agreed, that coil balancing coil be problem, but I am not willing to open this coil, rather build new one.

        Coil cable is not a great type, presumably they use microphone cable.

        Please take a look at this MD-3030 coil adaptation shematic and comment if it is basically correct:

        • RX is paralel resonant, keep C12, connect 51nF as C0, otherwise looks reasonable, at least for first test, offset TX\RX freq. by some 20%, but not less than 10%, monitor coil imbalance signal

            Thanks Tepco.

            TX/RX resonances are calculated (using standard value of C) at about 8.2kHz/6.72kHz. Mean offset of about 18%.

            If we use in TX 180nF and in RX 56nF we get frequencies of about 7.72kHz/6.4kHz and offset of about 17%.

            Which offset would you prefer?

            • About right,any version, also TX is differential, bridge type, output to coil can be connected between pin 5 and 8 for increased TX drive

                I was thinking that point 3 (pin 5) is there a test point?

                Corrected MD-3030 coil connection sheme:

                • What would be happen if the coil is tuned???
                  I have 2 coils from Garrett 2500, other 2 from whites 3 from ML, 1 from MD5002, one from Cscope etc..... so i am interesting to use some of them.
                  Also i have one from Fisher that it has not passive components but it is only 4".

                  • One dude uses coil from ACE 150 I think :http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=E17IU32w-uA
                    By the way this shaft is really kickass Russian ingenuity..

                      Measure inductances of those coil and recalculate C. Problem is that TX here is serial resonance. RX, according author will work even without parallel Co (so untuned to resonance). If TX and RX tank circuit are tuned to resonance, then RX resonance should be set about 1.5kHz lower than TX resonance. Best working (TX) frequency from 7kHz to 9kHz.

                      You can try to adapt your coil to KROT2 using autotune procedure, as author show on this video (if fail then coil should be better adapted by changing tank capacitors in first line):

                        This is a sensor of the ACE 250. And slightly modified scheme (gain lifted the receiver).

                        • hello, this project is very interesting. es it from a detector trade?
                          Es that you can group the scheme, the pcb, the list of components and tutorial for programmable componant and parameter for a double D coil 27 cm. thank you

                                Wait a little. When i"ll finish my KPOT i"ll try the 12" coil from Garrett 2500gti. I think that 1350 and 2500 have the same coils....
