About 240 mv , When Im adjusting the coils, if you just breathe it will change drastically. I built a LC meter(ABO) designed by AndrewK2, and it has a frequency generator built in, I wonder if I can use it with a scope to determine coil resonance.

    • S- video cable

Reiv, on my s-video cable there is two shielded conductors, but no outer shield wire. How did you connect to the coil faraday shield? I cannot see an outer shield wire on your S-video cable either.

      • My cable is like on previous picture, graphite shielding of coil is connected to "negative" Rx (analog ground) and works ok.

        • I use the "ABO" to find resonance. It works well. Author also uses "ABO" meter.

Perkun, I also built the ABO2006, could you please tell me the procedure you use to find coil resonance with the ABO?

            • It's simple Set the frequency of the "ABO" generator to find the maximum amplitude on the oscilloscope. Click image for larger version

Thank you for the schematic, now I understand.

                  • Sorry if this has been answered before, but how does this MD compare to say TGSL or IDX-PRO, that are commonly built. I think the design is simple and elegant and low part number, so should be an easy build, but I wonder if it's worth building. Also, do the 6.59KHz coils work with this MD, or do I need a specific coil to make it work?

                    Thanks.

                    • is the source available for KROT-2 XM? all I can seem to find is the hex filtes.

                      • I have not been able to register for the russian forum. I do not read russian, but would like to get ahold of the author of the code for the MOLE-2. It looks like he as pretty much already done the project that I was getting ready to kick off. I was going to use the PIC24. But if I can get the xmega to work, that will be fine. I want to add some specific features, such as a full graphics display, as well as a comprehensive control menu. The pic24 has a nice graphics library. My goal is a board that will support a rotary encoder, 2 toggle switches, one pin pointer toggle, a 2x16, 2x20, 4x20 and a more complex graphic LCD that I have written code for. I'd rather start with this xmega platform and finish expanding it by creating a pc board that would support these features, and then extending the code. I have 30+

                        • The site author is now available a new version of the program for the Mole-2 !!! I quote:
Firmware KROT "TURBO" from 09.11.2014 configurable frequency range of 5-18 kHz. Four switchable profile. Large display WFI (selected). Modes "Norma" "Turbo" (dynamic) and "Tresh" (pseudo-static). Modes "Turbo" and "Tresh" increase the depth of the search by ~ 20% but this decreases the reaction rate of the instrument, the recommended speed of posting is not more than 50 cm / sec. The new algorithm works "WFI at the maximum target response" is activated when in the "discriminator" is set though ode mask, except the extreme. Other refinement improves the functional and technical specifications of the device.

                              • Set balans coil and "A" to zero, because You will lost some deep and sens. This mode is used to be designed for critical situation when Your Urx is to high. And check Your resonat freq. beacuse 78mA is to low.
