  • cscope schematics

finally had conformation from cscope quote" we do not and have never released schematics for any of our detectors, no matter the age of the detector all schematics remain the property of cscope".
so at least i know, i wanted to post the actual reply i received but have been asked not to, they did say that they will try to repair any of their detectors sent to them by prior arrangement, regardless of age.
so if its worth sending in they will fix it, but will not allow you to repair your own 30 year old detector.
compare this to adams who quite willingly sent me the schematic for the ax777(which is a current model), on the understanding i only used it for my own machine, and did not pass it on to third parties.
it seems a bit strange, all a stance like that does is, a put me off cscope, and b mean these 3 old cscopes i acquired will have the coils and shafts removed and be thrown into landfill( control boxes are not suitable for projects), sad i may have spent a few quid getting them working, but not the kind of money they want.
p.s. i did not buy these recently with a view to selling them on, i picked them up over the years intending to fix them to put in my collection, but could never find info on them to fix them.

just as an example of how daft cscope are, a few years ago a company sold a licensed cscope the parkinson pro pp412, this detector while available as a factory unit, was also available as a self build kit.Click image for larger version

this detector was i'm told identical to this cscope unit Click image for larger version

but the kit model came with a schematic, not just an art schematic, a full bench schematic with test points and scope shots, now cscope wont even reissue a schematic thats in the wild already?
daft or what?, a friend of mine wondered if cscope knew about the schematic, but why wouldn't they?, surely they new it was given with the parky pro kit, it was needed to build the kit, and was not some 3rd party clone, it was a fully licensed product.
so in my mind denying ever releasing a schematic, to someone who knows better, and moreover refusing to reissue a copy to accompany a product when the schematic was part of the package, is small narrowminded and backward.
so i'm ditching all my cscope stuff, i'm not prepared to collect something i cant service.
maybe i will start collecting old whites machines or garrett as they are more customer friendly.

You say that there is a virus, but you don't post a screenshot of your NOD32 results. Could you post a screenshot showing what NOD32 has found, and the path to the file concerned. Otherwise your post is unfair and does not give kt315 or others a chance to investigate the offending file. Sometimes it is good to post as much information as possible. Especially when you are pointing a finger.

This is displayed in computer. May be strong sensitivity of the anti virus program.

Try getting a schematic out of them!!

I have a raft of CScope schematics BUT.... I had to sign an NDA with them before I was allowed sight and Sorry, no I can't pass on copies not even to private emails. You have to understand that whilst detectors are not rocket science, the individual schematics represent a companies IP and therefor its lifeblood. If they go giving them out ad hoc, then they can-t protect thier investment.

This "No you can't have a schematic" attitude is NOT dog-in-the-manger as I thought, it is done purely for commercial reasons. If a company can PROVE that it developed something "without sight" of a competitors prior art, then they can manufacture free of any interference or litigation. A good example of this is BugWhiskers and ML. If he can PROVE he never had sight of ML AND he didn't reverse Engineer any of their products then he has a good case, otherwise if he did copy ML (I know he didn't for a fact) then he deserves everything they throw at him.

I have Sovereign schematics (original ML ones) and if I brought out a machine using even modified practices then I would be in a lot of trouble!!
