  • looking for a signal booster, that can be used with the surp pi 1.2

hi all is there any schematics, for boosters and iron filters if such a thing exists.

    cheers all

On a PI your signal booster is how much current you put into the coil. More voltage
or a lower inductance or different timing can all boost your signal but you have to
    experiment.

To discriminate iron is difficult. Generally PI type detectors do not discriminate so
they are generally used in places with less "junk". You could try a "DD" type coil
to give some indication of target type.

    Look here; http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...754#post195754
for a discussion on using a DD coil (go backwards).

thanx, is it possible to boost the surf pi, to 24v, what circuits would need changing.
      cheers

If you need "boosted" signal, then it is better to build Delta Pulse or Sniffer Xr71 (ask KT315 for PCB) instead of bother with uncertain Surf PI mods.

It's not straightforward to just increase the power to 24v. There are generally multiple
voltages that need to be considered. You might try to get some Litz wire and use that
to make a coil. The idea is the resistance is low so more current in the coil to generate
            a stronger field.

try increase the PULSE WIDTH vice the power increase to 24V. in Delta Pulse you can easely turn clockwise a pot POWER so you get 500usec of pulse width.
that will give you some comfort to dig the ground at big depth by big shovel.

Ran mine from 18 Li Po pack from Makita Drill, worked real well. No drama
