The schematic is pretty much what was posted here. I have a 5900. I am souping it up a bit. I have added in the sensitivity control from the 4900. It makes the GEB mode chatter, but in TR mode it works well, though it tends to keep the meter at nickle range.
The achilles tendon of the 5900/4900 is the stupid battery box. I got my 4900 sans battery, and my 5900 not working (just a bad battery pack). I went Tanners in Dallas and bought a couple of 4 c cell holders, and some wires that have a male end and a female end that lock. Soldered them to the circuit board, and bingo. Working detectors, with an easy to replace battery pack. Made a couple of them so I can swap them in the field. Next mod will be the sigbal control.
