  • Geotech Twobox T-R Locator

I have discovered a collection of metal detector schematics
(some incl. how to built the detector) from 2010 and earlier.

Let's start with this here because of it's "Geotech" origin!

Probably no need to discover on Geotech still existing articles:

Thanx for the info but this link shows them all:

      http://www.geotech1.com/pages/metdet/projects/

      And here is some more:

      http://www.geotech1.com/cgi-bin/page...schematics.dat

Now I can start sorting out already available circuits.

btw. I wonder if there exists some scans, pdfs or digipix from those old Geotech magazines
from the 70s or when they were available. There are alot of vintage erotic magazines on the net
and also mags for the Commodore 64 and such stuff, but old treasure-hunting and MD-technology
print-works also would be pretty interesting. For us here especially some "antique" Geotech issues.

If Carl has a digicam or smartphone perhaps he could make some shoots for us...
So we can see how other DIY projects looked in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Or do we need high quality scan pdfs - I guess not!

Anyone knows where is the IB detector of Andrei Chtchedrine? It's not in his folder:
        http://www.geotech1.com/pages/metdet/projects/andrei/
and here waits just the hungry crocodile:

No idea why it was missing, but I found and fixed it.

What else were you asking? Most of the articles I've placed on Geotech were from old electronics magazines, like Radio-Electronics and Wireless World.

Super, thanks. btw. you and this forum will get 10 "new" schematics soon -
the "sorting out and comparing what is already available - work" is done.

Also a cool collection of Geiger Counter circuits is ready to go,
for persons who detect metal in countries full of radioactive crap.

Of course the already available content here is very intersting:
            http://www.geotech1.com/forums/forum...mp-Collectable

It's rather the antique treasure feeling itself concerning old books or magazines
from the early years of metal-detector-development, the nostalgic feeling or
the "touch of history". Pictures of the old magazines instead of digital texts.
Comparable with a 500 years old treasure-map which is much more fascinating
than a mark on google maps!

I'll give you a visual example:
White's brochures from "a few" years ago.

Some might say: So what, nothing special.
But for others it's even very special because it
breathes history and has high sentimental etc. values!
Some kind of rarity or little treasure itself:

btw. sometimes I wanna try to find one of those grey White's AF 101 models because I
combine very good memories with this simple but trustworthy and reliable detector.

I have a nearly complete collection of almost everything White's (US) ever published, back to the early 60's. But almost nothing from White's-UK.

I also have a huge collection of US treasure magazines from about 1960 onward: Treasure, Treasure Search, Treasure Found, Lost Treasure, Western/Eastern Treasure, Treasure World, True Treasure, Gold Prospector, Gold & Treasure Hunter, Gold!, and more I can't think of. It would take a lifetime to scan them all in. The real problem is, a whole lot of the treasure stories in those magazines were pure fiction.

Carl, this is fantastic and this is a treasure you have.
The easiest way is to film the pages of a magazine with a high definition cam so its readable.
The second easy to make pics of it.

We don't need all of it, for the beginning if you have some spare minutes just 1 mag,
perhaps one with you in it.
You will conserving another dimension of "metal-detection-treasure-hunting-history" with it.
Of course this forum is already the best dimension so take it how you want.
But otherwise not even a glimpse of that printed stuff never-ever for others might be able to see or read!
I'm not talking about certain MD-articles we have already but the "antique impressions".
Even a picture with 10 mag covers on the floor would be already cool.

Here could be a good place for it:

                History Of Metal Detectors
                http://www.geotech1.com/cgi-bin/page...le=history.dat

Many thanks for impressions like these.

                > The real problem is, a whole lot of the treasure stories in those magazines were pure fiction.

Why a problem - its pretty entertaining as long as someone doesn't cares too much about those tales.
As long as the shown detectors layouts are really working everything is fine!

Good news - this thread inspired me to make digipix of my so far not
                  scanned children- and youth-time photos.

Because this is much better than nothing or waiting forever!

I wasn't motivated to scan those missing pix because it was already
alot work with all the stuff but when I have captured those mementos
quick n dirty with the digicam, for the beginning they are already saved!
