Connected to a lab power supply rated at 20amps! Voltage were set to 14v and current to 5amps, pi used about 0.7 only. Coil from original xr71 at 1000 may and a custom one at 400mah.

I build this circuit before based on turkish pcb. It give me a full whole week to figure it out why not working good. In that time i believe that ive done nothing wrong and suspect that the pcb i etched is bad. But after so many times checking back the components it turns out that i misplace 2 resistor. That why before spend time checking those components if they are place properly to each proper value.

jladre I got this one too! I always try to spend more time for components measuring and double checking solder location because later I may need to spend xx hours more to try and figure out what went wrong. Also soldering stage by stage and testing in between stages turns out to be good idea. Also cleaning solder (I use solder cleaner and condensed air spray to clean out solder stuff which get under IC sockets and can cause magic smoke)..

this is my Sniffer xr71 setup. i have added some sheilding to the enclosure box since these photos were taken. this has helped with interferance, but were do i go now to make the machine perform as it should do.....

Keith that board worked for you? Have you tested it? If yes where did you get it from?
                      Thank you

                        Hi johnyp
i had a bit of a play about with the machine earlier this afternoon out in the garden. i put the control box up about 2ft off the ground on top of a plastic container. same for the coil. i wasn't getting any EMI interferance. i tested the machine with a metal pan about 6" in diameter. rubbish, dosn't matter how you play about with the knobs. about 10" start to pick up was the best i could get. coins you are waisting your time. it hardly know they are there.
my board does the same as Jezz does. no matter where the "signal" and "sens" knobs are set they do absolutely nothing. i think we must of bought the same board off the same Ebay seller from Turkey
well it looks like it's going on flea bay for spares or repairs.

i am not kidding. the grandson once had one of these cheapy thinks bellow and it would of done a better job.

anyone any ideas on what i can do to sort the issues out with the board before it ends up in the bin etc.
or has anyone a working board that they could sell to replace this one?
