  • Any Vaquero Info Available?

Is it perhaps similar to Cibola?

    Thanks,

    It seems.

I just got my Vaquero in today. I can confirm that the PCB is identical to the Cibola. Vaquero 1.0 on PIC.

          schematic)

PCB seems the same, but a few parts are a bit different. I uploaded a schematic that meets my Vaquero.

There are significant differences for a common user.
Cibola draws battery too fast. I don't know why is that. Never really analyzed it's circuitry.
But i get constant reports from several users about very short battery life.
Vaquero is deeper than Cibola. Very efficient and good detector on the real sites.
So far only Tejon appears to be deeper than Vaquero, among all Tesoro models.

                Yes KT315 is right!
                Thanks for sharing the schematic!

STM32F030 mod (replacement to PIC plus VDI)

My feeling is that Vaquero has high sensitivity in AllMet mode only; discrimination mode has slightly lower amplification (according to the schematic).
That is why VDI mod is quite useful for Vaquero; it allows to use AllMet mode with different sounds for different vdi targets.

I uploaded my VDI sound mod there; it fully replaces the original PIC with stm32f030 (only 20 pins tssop) plus vdi sound functionality that is based on ADC of X Y signals from discrim channels. This mod is a small board with a hand-made connector to 28pin PIC socket, but in general it makes a sense to create a new pcb based on stm32 instead of pic.

I suspect that the tx circuit is drawing most of the current. Say, 80 to 100ma.

                      Yes indeed, the gain.
I've read somewhere that the noise is limited by the noise if the first amp when amps are connected in series.
