hi mel if offered I would buy that RM6, as is and pay the mad shipping charges to the uk, I love compass detectors and while they were sold here they almost never appear, when they do they are in such a state.

I dug it out of storage.......

      Aly (SinclairUser)
I dug it out of storage, and it was from back around 1978 or 1979 or so time period. I have the upper rod, but the lower rod is missing. They used to sell for $299.95 I believe, and my cost was around $210.00 back then. I would give you a great price, but I do not deal with PayPal, it would have to be a U.S. Postal Money Order. I would take $140.00 cash for it. I was a Compass dealer, and can prove it to you...

Why a U.S. Postal Money Order? Well, I can take the check to the post office, they will cash the U.S. Postal Money Order for me. What they do is get on the phone, and verify and validate the U.S. Postal Money Order. So if it does not pass that test, it has to be a false money order and they will not cash it. And if they do not verify, validate, and cast it, I do not accept it either.

You would have to pay the shipping from Colorado Springs, Colorado, over to Sheffield, England. They have UPS stores in Colorado Springs, in case you have an UPS account. I could either pack it up, and give it to the UPS store, or the UPS store could pack it up. Or if you have a UPS account, you could have UPS come, with a call order, and pick it up and send it to you. Or if you have a good account, you can have UPS pay me with cash.

It was formerly a demonstrator unit, and has a few knicks on it, so it is not in 100% pristine condition as far as condition goes. It looks really good though. I have a coil cover on it. You could say, "NEW but old stock". And the two screws, which held the top cover on the case, are missing. I took them off, and not sure where I laid them. I am 83 years old you know so that excuses me. I took three photos of it, so you can see what it looks like. Now I do not have to sell it as I do not need the money. And I do not take any other kind of payment as I was warned about those kinds of payments.

Now I want you to notice, it STILL HAS THE RED PLASTIC FITTING, STUCK INTO THE CASE TUBE! That is how they arrived, to keep that shaft clean from dirt, or to protect it from damage during transit from Compass Electronics to we dealers. You merely pull it out, the shove the upper rod onto that shaft, turn the knurled nut tight, and it is connected.

Some more photos of Cherry RM6 unit...

The two missing screws are in the case. Do not know where the missing lower rod is though. Took the cover off the coil, and you can see it is cherry finish. Never been on the dirt.

Took a close up photo of the bottom of the accessory coil cover, and it is still pretty much in Cherry condition also, but has a few scratches on the bottom. But no scratches on the coil bottom. Remember this unit is around 40 years old.

And here is a close up Mug shot of the case control section. Has a few scratches on the edges of the top lid, probably from hitting something when someone was swinging the unit to see how it felt to swing it.

I did not wipe off the dust. Not bad for an old unit, around 40 years old. I deducted 30% off from the wholesale cost of the unit back then. And if someone wants a schematic of it, I will toss that in too. I was a dealer for Compass from around 1973 until they went out of business. I can go buy a shipping carton, take it to the post office, when I get an address for a potential buyer, get a quote on shipping cost, and you will know your final cost.
