Hi everyone. My name is Diego, I'm from Spain and I've build the TGSL smd version and after some test and building practice I finally build a working detector (at least in my lab)
The first DD coil I've made wasn't perfect, but I played with the detector in the field and I learned some lessons. One day after a rainy day the detector started to detect the soil and I realised that my coil was defective (wrong made) because I it have never rejected the ferrite.
Now I finished a new set of TX-RX coils and after some test I obtained the perfect working detector. (more than 30cm detection distance for 1 euro coin) rejection of the ferrite with the GB pot, stability against electrical noise, ferrous discrimination and discrimination of aluminium foil depending of the disc level pot. The "problem" is that the coils are swapped. The phase shift is more or less 11uS (for 14,8khz). I deformed the coils to obtain the best nulling voltage and correct phase shift and that values gives me that results in detection. My question is... Why??
All the people uses more inductance in the rx and the desired 20° degrees (4us) but with that settings I only detect more or less 15-20cm and with no rejection of ferrite
Thanks. I'll post a YouTube build video if the detector finally works.
Diego
