Yes I built this a few years ago. At first it was fairly good, but because I assembled the coil on plywood with wood glue it eventually went out of balance. When it was good it would get 25cm on an Australian 20c piece. I am sure with careful coil balancing better results could be achieved.
Yes coil as described in build document. That setup in video has many problems. All components and wires need to be shortened and secured, and coil secured to have any chance of an effective test. All components on pcb are stood off too high, and because of double sided populating it would be almost impossible to mount. A terrible example.
