Now is obvious why i failed at first attempt. I was doing Gold Bug (1) according to Lahr's hand drawn schematic (consist errors above all) and i have coil for Gold Bug 2.
Total miss.
Either to make coil for Gold Bug (1), for which btw there are no accurate specs... either to reverse engineer Gold Bug 2 and use the coil i already have.
Second choice is better one, since Gold Bug 2 is more advanced and more promising.
All i need now is somebody with Gold Bug 2; to open it, take close photos and make accurate component list with values.

Never buy anything like that from AliExpress.
Except if price is $10... so to buy it for fun.
Never trust Chinese sellers. All fraudsters.
Generally i stopped dealing with them.
I buy material (probably made in China too) only from local suppliers and ONLY what's already checked and proven.
I discovered (and spread the news here in local) one local supplier who is selling remarked chips.
I think i posted that already somewhere on Geotech.
TL071 that he sells are total fake.
I made hundreds of small echo modules for musicians. So i got used on how those suppose to work.
Each one of those i check with microphone and the amplifier, before packing and sending to customer.
So up from the last year i discovered faked chips.
I put DIL 8 socket and test those. Also i am keeping few very old TL071 here in reserve.
Differences are HUGE! Even total layman can tell the difference in behavior.
Original TL071 is working "by the book". While faked one is working horrific, much lower gain, terrible S/N, terrible background hum and noise.
From 10 of a kind; 10 were faked.
So i put the end on buying anything from that supplier.
From than to today; i spent probably several thousands of euros on material. That's how much he lost from me as customer.
I am severely resentful person, i never forget and never forgive.
Not only that; from that day i spread the news and rise terrible ugly anti campaign against that supplier.
I will not stop until i see him with a begging stick on the street.
Now... you can only imagine what's cooking in my head when i talk about Chinese cretins!
Keep imagine... and multiply that by million.
If i had approach to the "red button"... China would be toxic wasteland from long time ago.
... few more countries too...

I've recently seen fake GB2s on eBay for $500. I can tell a fake from genuine by the front label. Someone on Alibaba was also selling just the control heads (no S-rod, no coil) for $200. Looking at the Russian video, it appears the circuit has a micro which the GB2 has never had. It's hilarious the mode switches are not connected, I also see the ground balance pot is also not connected.Comment
