  • Tesoro Cutlass µMax schematic

    Hello,

I have a cutlass µMax, therefore it has now some sensitivity problems (too much unwanted signals).
Is there someone who can post the schematic of this detector?

    Thanks
    NicoP

I have no experience in electronics or fixing detectors. I ordered a new dual pot hoping that the switch in the pot is broken and stays in all metal position.

why you could not simply desolder wires from the pot and connect in DISC position soldering together for checking of the guess?

Look at the pot there will be two wires at the very end. This is the switch portion of the pot. If you short the two wires it should go into disc mode and the pot when adjusted should now work.
That is if the problem is the switch portion. If it is, you can also just attach those two wire to a toggle switch like they do on the Silver umax.

If the machine is making a noise all the time, change ALL the electrolytic caps in the NEGATIVE voltage generator. Tesoro had a bad batch of caps a few years back and they all failed prematurely. I changed LOADS of them when I owned Pulsar Electronics. Always a good place to start with noisy Tesoro machines.

Try another coil before opening the detector. Shield problems in the coil or water entering is common.

can you send pics of the board of hi resolution on my email [email protected]?
my bowel say me if you see 'umax' in a name it is mean you will see some kinda 'hybrid' board at ceramic base like a 'superior modern innovation of tesoro'.
tesoro likes put this board in all their products, but this board is not so good to fix for a dummy in electronics.

                    Hi!
You can try to clean it using a spray for contacts.
