  • I'd like to build a CZ-5

I been buying and trying metal detectors for the past 3 years and now I want to try building one. Thinking of one that would compliment my existing kit, I picked the CZ-5. Mainly because its a two freq machine, its discontinued so nobody should get wrinked up over it, and I've never used a CZ in the past.

I guess the first place to start would be to solicit a schema and a parts list.

Can anyone here help me out?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    mike, robert, ivconic etc.

I again inform you - CZ HAS BEEN DONE by jackdetect. I do not see a deep sense to do it because much amount of tuning resistors, there are not good related info on these.

      Hi KT315

Thank you for the response and the files.

It looks like a starting place. I think I have a copy of the patent somewhere. I remember reading it last year anyway. Maybe between what I can read off the diagrams vs trial and error and other info I can gather, I'll be able to figure out what the illegible values are.

From the information gathered so far, the CZ came out in 1991. I didn't see a PIC in the photos. Correct me if I missed it.

      Thanks,

      Mike

        Hi Mike,

Good luck with this project! You'll need it.
kt315 says that jackdetect has already built this detector. Perhaps he has a PCB layout available.
I notice there's at least three CZ-5 Quicksilvers on the U.S. ebay site at the moment, so perhaps you could buy one from there and backengineer it. At least you could find out the right component values, and you'd have a real working detector to compare with your clone.

          ????????

KT315, just the hell, explain me one thing:
What makes you think that i wanted any info on CZ5 subject ever????
I own CZ5 for 2 years, among 7 other detectors...I never needed any schematic, info, hint or anything else about it! Yesterday i checked my mail and it was full with your mails with various schematics and pics!? I never asked you to send me that, did i !? Thank you for effort, but i never asked you for that. I already have over 200 various schematics and projects and it
is far more than enough i need...I wish i am that able to assemble all of those
units, but i am no.To busy, lack of time, also lack of interests for a bunch of those. Certain questions i asked here on this forum, only when have some detector to repair, since i run service for detectors quite a while....
So dear KT315,in future please do not mix my name with any of subject i am not involved in, and atay away from "dumping" my mail with so many unasked
          stuff,please.....
          regards

" I do not see a deep sense to do it because much amount of tuning resistors, there are not good related info on these."

I agree on this! Besides even i f you make it, you gonna need original coil for it,cose i am sure that you not gonna make suitable coil for it.....
            For example TX has 30x25 lic. with 50 windings,gauge 0.1mm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How the hell you think you can wind it manually!?
            Good,goooooooood luck!

CZ-5 and all metal detector schematics

All schematics are welcome to my mailbox, since all my files were damaged. A big loss , im slowly rebuilding my md schematics, all detectors from a-z . Kt315 your wecome to send all again , and will be kept for private use only. Eugene [email protected] . Thank-You

My last post here on this forum...for ever...

                "...For example TX has 30x25 lic. with 50 windings,gauge 0.1mm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Mistake ! It should say LESS THAN 0.1mm !!!!!!!??
Other words there are 750...and i mean 750 !!!!! lics. wounded 50 times around former!!!??
And all that just for TX !? About RX.....well...you just do not want to know, my friend...
Final resistance should be 3.8ohms for TX and 30.8ohms for RX......
Q factor of presented coil is so great, no wonder it is working PERFECT ! (SPIDER COIL)
I guess those geniuses from Fisher dug the way how to gain such good Q. As much inductance
as it could be, same time as low resistance it takes, by giving frequency range....
CZ5 is a hell of machine! CZ7 is all the same, but with LCD instead analogue scale....
If you ask me i prefer CZ5. I had CZ7 to,but i didnt like it with all those soft buttons and
bad blure lcd...sooner or later those buttons stuck and need cleansing or replacing...
About quicksilver coil....i tried it with some White's models on simillar freq. and it
worked very good, i dare to say even better than original White's coils !!!????
If you want to make good detector than do not bug your self with CZ5 (it is to complicated),
but try 1265/1266....Very nice machine.....and "allmighty" KT315 can offer you complete
project....i guess......since he and his beloved jackdetect "hacked" all and everything
                whatever,everywhere and whenever....!!!! Ha,ha,ha......what a joke....Some tribe is growing
                here....
But do not ask to much, cose sooner or later you'll get the warning that some "rabbitdetect"
has already "hacked" everything, so you the rest of amateurs are "dust" and "ignorants" and do
not have right to discuss about that...and do not have right to open a new threads on "old"
subjects, but to use SEARCH and take look on previous abandoned threads started by so mighty
                "whateverdetect" and "whatever315".....
So less reasons latelly for me to visit these pages, daring to ask or mention anything, cose
all the time being under pressure that some allmighty "whatever", can remind me that i am
ignorant and should stay in my corner not to mix in "big stuff"....
I intend to abandon my present e-mail and open a new one very soon too....Also i am gonna
abandon this nickname and maybe start under a new one...if any need to be here in future...
Some "whatevers" have so great ego, makes me sick of that!
                But ego without any backgrounds.....
                So much from me.....good bye
                ...
                p.s.
Mike Hillis, man go for it! Take 1265 and build it....That schematic, floating here on this forum
is right! No mistakes,missvalues...I guarantee! When finished, you should buy original coil...
and that is all...You'll have very nice detector in your hands....Best regards to you...

Thank you IVCONIC and KT315 for the additional information.

I've thought about the 1266 and the Golden Sabre, but my heart is set on the CZ. I plan on using original coils.

I want to take a moment to thank both of you, and others that have posted information on these forums. Lots of knowledge has been made available for guys like me that like the machines as much as finding stuff with them. There seems to be some tension but I want you both to know that I respect your posts and your knowledge and again say thank you for sharing it with me.

                      HH
