PI from Poland ??? Here's a little More Info

Did some more checking and the Jabel Detector is a Kit and seems a little expensive about $234.00 American dollars. Has a Pic controller with some discrimination. I could not get babelfish translation to work on this site. Its http://www.hq-elektronic.eu. Its funny that there are so many metal detector Kit companies in Europe and Russia , and only one In USA !!!!!! Years ago I bought many Heathkits to Build , They no longer Exist !! An end of a great kit building Era I guess !! Eugene [email protected]

Hi, this PI detector is without discimination, but very cheap for beginners.

I am testing my HDM discriminitaion kit with it, you can disc low-conduct and hi-conduct metals, but if you detect some metal for example 30cm, you can discriminate only if you approach your coil to 15cm from metal (about 50% of detect distance).

Jabel is one of most popular detector-kits in Poland. The price for this kit (electronic part only, w/o coil) is approx. 30USD. This is PI type, based on PIC microprocessor. People in Poland calls this detector "Jabol" - this word is used as a general name of "cheap apple wine"

                    Jabel

hello. i come from poland. many beginers use Jabel here. it's nothing special as PI detector. he have 1 microprocessor with soft-protection  . i dont have this and then dont bulit this . i dont know where is any soft for this PI. Jabel. 20cm coil = 25mm coin = ~20 cm . see ya !

Timing of Jabel is here : http://www.hq-elektronic.eu/forum/vi....php?p=170#170 .I think it is not very critical, you can use another software and processor from any other PI detector, or you can built generator of pulses with CMOS 4538 (for example Tiny or Delta Pulse)

                          Hi,
I come from Poland. Here you have manual from kit. J-267 is sold as a kit with preprogrammed uC. Here you have timings:

                          pulse width:53us
                          delay after pulse: 40us
                          sample1 width: 40us
                          delay between sample1 and sample2: 220us
                          sample2 width: 40us

                          frequency of pulse is 1kHz

Is is very easy to write it and change uC onto AVR (eg. Attiny15). Total power consumption is les then 100mA. As a coil you should use at the beginning 19 metres of 0,7 mm wire. J-267 is quite sensitive for beginners.

If someone has troubles with translation , just tell me. I'll try to help.

I have hand made J-267 with ATtiny15. Below you can find source code for ATtiny15 running on 1,6 MHz. Like I said my version is hand made and you can find some differences in the pinout (avoiding the fact that I use ATtiny instead of PIC). Additionally my version has the switch on PB0 to change timings - pulse width 106us/frequency 500Hz

Here you have schematic diagram with ATtiny15. One's very similar to J-267 but more stable. One is remake of ATtiny-1 project from Pulsdetektor.de

                              Hello from Poland

Here you have the latest firmware revision for my detector (based on ATtiny-1 project from pulsdetektor).

                              Main improwments and changes:
                              - new timings: switchable pulse width 50/75us, digital adjustable delay between pulse and sample1 19-96us, sample1 and sample2 width 10us, delay between sample1 and sample2 60us, frequency 500Hz

-To add 50/75us switch you should pull-up PB0 pin to the +5V by means 1K resistor and add switch between GND and PB0. Grounded PB0 means 75us, pulled up PB0 means 50us

-To add linear variable resistor eg. 22K as a voltage divider between GND and +5V. Middle pin you should connect directly with PB2 pin (configured as a analog to digital converter). Now the ADC reads variable resistor position and sets delay in the range of 19-96us.

As a mainboard layout you can still use ATtiny-1 board.

I suggest to change damping resistor (parallel to search coil) from 2K/2W into 910 ohms/2W

                              Regards
                              Pawol/Poland
