Thanks diminute, I will check it today against the board. The chip numbers look the same at a glance. The detectors at the shop. I will let eh forum know.

So far so good! I checked points along the signal path and saw what should be there and all main parts are the same. I tried to buy extra connections from garrett for coils I am making and a connection to my logger. The prices about knocked me down! 30.00 for the headphone and 20 for the coil connection.

If anyone knows a suppler that has these let me know.

I don't see hoe the phones get voltage.

Goodrat see the schematic for the charge circuit through the phone jack.

This design use the same input for charger and for headphone.

Is a pretty solution to use only one jack.

Neat but..

The diode blocks the battery voltage from driving the phones. I don't see where the power comes from.

Look at the connection J1. Thats where the phones and charger connect.

...I assume. So when the phones are just connected, where does it get voltage?

This is like Hammerhead... the (+) side of the battery is ground, and the (-) side is -12V. So the JFET drain is at "0V" and the low side of the phones is at "-12V".

I see that connection at the switch that goes to ground now.
