      Hi Geo,
I've used 1st PCB from the original dutch project, you can find zipfile on page 1 of GoldenSabre thread.

PCB layer is correct , no mistakes.

There are few differences between labels on PCB drawing and schematic, but if you build it following PCB parts labels your detector will work.

I found that only big difference that could be important is one capacitor on preamp. LF353 that in label is 5pF and in schematic is 10pF.

All the rest you could leave as in the PCB labels.

You could build also GSabre light, without notch filter... smaller PCB.

      Best regards,
      Max

PS: I attach the original zipfile here

          Hi Geo,
          I'm sure it's 10pF on original GSabre... also in schematic it's 10pF.
I think the little mistake was on PCB's label only.

Anyway, it works also (and good) with 5pF there.

          Kind regards,
          Max

          • Is there any differance in performance with 5pf and with 10pf?
            Or you haven't tryed yet?

                Try here ->
                http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=2920&doy=16m9
If not, then the CA3140 is a direct replacement for the common 741, so anything with the same pinout will work.

With LF356 1 euro to 7cm, not much sensitive one!

                    I have not tried CA3130...

How about LF351? This is also pin compatible.

                          • Hi,
LF356 and LF357 are very similar. They differ in bandwidth and speed only. Mensioned issues are not important for us. LF356 is much cheaper than LF357 of course.

                            • Thanks, Qiaozhi

Dantech .... LF356 is more available.

                              • Okay. LF356 is much cheaper and available in Poland also. Bandwidth is completly not important for us (5MHz or 20MHz). So, there is no common sense to buy LF357. He can replace all opamps by LF356 in his detector
