Hello , looking at this schematic , must be from years ago with a CA3140 , which might be discontinued ?? , Maybe use LM393 ??? I am glad to have this clear Schematic for my collection.....So , I have no complaints................Regards.........Eugene52

Yes CA3140 has been around a long time but they are still manufactured by Intersil. Digikey is a distributor and it is less than $2.00 apiece.
If you have never done business with Digikey, I recommend them highly. My only complaint with them, in the past I could order from a brand new catalog but they already raised some prices. Maybe I was last in line for the catalog and it really was old. But they're fast and no minimum order (in the US).
Please don't use the LM393 in place of CA3140 it probably won't do right.
