Hey, it's my idea - I stole it.

Qiaozhi, I may have to get one of those round tuit thingies.
My philosophy has always been "never put-off today what can be put-off tomorrow".

    • Hi porkluvr,

you don't need the complete digital logic. Using a simple and low-cost AVR µC (e.g. ATtiny 2313-20PU) does the job well. You can dramatically reduce the complexity of the circuit with appropriate software coding. BTW, you can also reduce the other circuit parts (analog parts, DC-DC converter, audio-stage and so on). Then, you do not need the original circuit anymore.
It is more easy to start from the beginning. I am sure, there are some bugs or inconsistencies in the circuit. So why wasting time and effort?

I wonder if Codan took into account the up and coming expiration of Candy's patents? By the way there is an engineering Goof on the circuit of the front end that holds back some depth performance..any takers? This not a copy Goof but a Goof when this thing was designed by that marvelous engineer Bruce (do the maths) (again) Baby.

On that topic, if the overall input resistance on the front end is halved then we have 6db better noise performance. This is an old but good overall design that leaves the later machines for dead if a few modifications are carried out to the unit. By the way if you want a psuedo sensitive smooth mode on a SD2000 add a larger capacitor to the r/c network on the on the (or lower the R) collectors on the input transistor pair.

              Enough from me today..

P.S When can I publish the 4000 circuit? It is 90% the same as a 2000 bar the stepped pulse voltage circuit and the micro. No wonder they grind the part numbers off, must be pretty scared of being copied..lol

              Enough from me today..lol
              HI unregistered
Could you please expand on your input .. preferably about the values you would subsitute.
Am in the middle of modding my 2000 and would like some ideas .. asking you as i think you would have some better knowledge
              thanks

                  Hi veltex
Thanking for your nice drawing .
I had some of your drawing.
                  Best regards.

                          • typographical error

This is hardly worth mentioning but I've found a typo mistake on page one of Veltex's schematic. CA3080 is shown driving the NE5532 headphone amplifier. CA3080 is an 8-pin transconductance amplifier so that it would be hard to fall for that. Change the label to CA3083, which is a transistor array, same as shown on earlier schematics.

                              • Is BUK455-600 the correct part number for the two output FETs? I am wondering how the BYV28-200 can survive in a pulse circuit where peaks could reach 600V, but I won't stress over the apparent incongruity.

Veltex, thank you very much for the nice drawings. I don't plan on cloning the SD2000 but the subcircuits look very useful. Thanks you too, Zed. Good thread. Educational.
