  • Nice work g.s.

Yeah it's fustrating project, but when setup correctly it works sweet. You notice that it built up areas the machine becomes noisy from emi, so to test it best to travel few km's away. I also did the same error with the lm13600 . Click on http://www.geotech1.com/pages/metdet...s/FastCoil.pdf this should help you. Furthermore, pay attention to the connection required for the 2x10 turn ground balance pots, otherwise you cannot balance the machine.

    • Hi G.S.

I would say that it would be alright for a small coil, cause thats what Ian said!!!! And Ian knows his stuff with these coils! http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...753#post168753

Coils really aren't my thing, the materials are too hard to obtain, then you have to get it right. When winding aim for the lowest possible capacitance/ high self resonance frequency. Then you have to mount it, shield it, make a casing for it, all of which is pretty much custom work. Electronics on the other hand, order them from the parts store, whack them together and provided you get it right, it will work!

      Cheers Mick

      • Good evening TO ALL HERE..
I found this video And I believe that Indicate for the type of cable to coil..
I am not aware English well.. You Cappie to PENSION WHETHER WRITTEN HERE..
        Thanks in IN ADVANCE...G.S ....

        • Hi g.s,

That wire is fine for small coils up to about 350mm I have used it successfully for small coils for Minelab machines THE TRICK IS TO GET THE INDUCTANCE AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO 300UH AND THE RESISTANCE SHOULD BE AROUND .4 OHMS then try to limit the coil to shield capacitance I encapsulate my coil bundle in a Styrofoam former of 26 mm diameter which I purpose make for each coil the shield is then placed over this form and then fitted to its purpose made housing I hope this information is of help to you.

          Best regards, Ian.

          • GOOD EVENING TO ALL HERE .. finally found WIRE LITZ ..
Before we start by to construct coil I want to clarify the following .
1 . When measuring with my lc meter and link the two together TERMINALS to count ohms then observe that it lc meter show resistances are 0.8 ohms have a look at FIGURE 1.
2 . When measuring the coil I see resistance 1,6 ohms next The resulting difference is 0.8 ohms have a look at FIGURE 2. Is this the correct technique used.
3 . is correctly mh this is very close to the desired figure 3 end 4 .I would like your opinion Thanks in advance G.S ....................

            • Hi g.s,

The inductance is fine but remember when you lace the coil up to a tight bundle the inductance will increase you will soon learn how much to allow for after you have done a few, I lace my coils up with a running lock stitch at around 10mm spacing using fishing braid also if you change the shape of the coil after you remove it from the former the inductance will change as for the resistance if you are using the 660/46 Litz it seems a bit high there could be two reasons for this.
.1. First make shure that all strands in the wire bundle are soldered properly (this is extremly important) I do this with an old fashioned soldering iron with a 3mm hole 10mm deep drilled in it I heat this up with a gas flame when it is realy hot I then apply solder to the hole to within 2mm of the top then place the litz in the hole untill the solder has fully flowed.
.2. the other reason could be the accuracy of your meter my LCR meter measures resistance to .001 of an ohm but my multimeter does it the same as yours but it is no where near as accurate.

              Regards, Ian.

              • in thanks pal IBGOLD . will tie beam and reported here my results.
SIMPLE Thinking grew a bit the diameter of coil now 26 cm and wish to fix the 35 cm..

                • for to everyone ..
I have constructed two coil One is square shape 25 cm and the second 45 cm , both are at the experimental stage unshielded and experiments are in my lab space..
                  I have used cable litz 660/46 ..
1 results of the 25 cm is a coin in two euro perceived at a distance 30 cm ferrous and a saucepan lid perceived at a distance 100 cm The coil is composed of 22 turns and a resistance 0.5 ohms end 300 mh induction..
2 results of the 45 cm to recognize a currency only within the center of the coil and at any distance beyond that ferrous and a saucepan lid perceived at a distance 145 cm The coil is composed of 14 turns and a resistance 0.5 ohms end 300 mh induction.

So I think REDUCING turns into a larger COIL to achieve the inductance 300 mh lose sensitivity here I want to ask this .......
If we add insulation on cable litz will be able to grew OF TURNS in my coil in order to have better sensitivity as I believe..???

                  Thanks again for YOUR HELP..G.S...

                  • Hi g.s,

I am unsure of what you are asking in relation to the cable but if you lower the inductance on the larger coil by reducing turns you will inrease the sensitivity to smaller targets some of the comercial coils go down to arround 260uh and still seem to work well on the smaller targets but you will lose sensitivity to the larger deeper targets it is swings and roundabouts you can't have it all ways.

                    Regards, Ian.

                    • Hi neighbor G.S.
If you add insulation you dont need to reduce the turns,i have make this with normal wire, no litz,
but i think its working better with litz .( 45cm coil, 21 turns, 340uH)

                      • Thank you AT FIRST...
My question was whether on Did not understand well..
I want to grow the outer insulation of the WIRE ciol To add more turns in the large coil I described ABOVE..
It is thus believed that I will have greater sensitivity and in smaller targets..

I just want to test by 14 TURNS to do in 22 broth made the small, then what will really compat....
