When i said that 6v accu will perfectly fit 1220B battery compartment - i was wrong!
It was "short" for damn 3mm!!!
So i had to "open" one of the inner sides and make enough space.
Not a big deal, even better now because accu will be additionally contracted in that "hole"!
I also added additional power Switch by which accu is disengaged from voltage multiplier.
Also added additional DC socket for charging, because original one is not suiting my expectations, so i left original one unused.
Looking at your detector its more upmarket build quality so proberly a pro for its time,so what im thinking is, if mines very good which as said previously is, makes a change from having to swing the head all the time, yours must be outstanding, I cant compare due to its the only C-Scope i have ever owned, the fact they were made here in britain says it all because they are designed arround are heavely iron infested soils, I will say though when C-Scope was arround in the early 70s they did produce alot of crap they were more of the toy market, the detectorists like myself of that era wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, it was mainly Saxon and whites but they were alot more exspensive and basic looking compared to C-Scope that had the meters and lots of buttons, what year was yours produced? mines is late 70s early 80s or so i was told .
Theres know way I will get a battery of that size into my detector as you can see so will go along with the external housing Idea unless you have better Idea.

Yes, agree, despite my high opinion on Cscope - must admit that those really had several hard misses in the past.
Even nowdays they do have several crapy toys in their offer...
But also they have nice machines too.
Can't tell exactly the year of 1220B production, but assume early '90. First one i had back in 1996. (as i recall...or maybe i am wrong? can't tell exactly..) and it was the same as this one now, but with a bit different colors (see photo below).
Today they have "Newforce R1" which is outstanding machine.
1220XD also, 1220R also... and i am happy because they are keeping the level with such products.
Recently i had 33XD (utility detector) and was impressed with what i saw inside (some other story for some other topic...maybe in future).
Csope is holding.. and they have my full support, because i am their great fan!

Tough!
Maybe small enclosure, belt mounted?
Because... i did the same in the past with previous 1220B i had.
But than i carried 3x6v accu's on the belt, larger ones!
Now you know why i decided to make voltage multiplier..!
It's a Promet 2!?
Looking at photo i can not see differences between that one and 1220B... at least on front panel commands?!
I do have Promet (1 i believe..) files somewhere... also Promet3 schematic, which is indeed different than 1220B. But Promet 2...? Don't have a clue?
I also notice that the coils look the same design interesting observation makes me think they came off similar production lines as Ivconic quoted earlier, at the very least same housing mold, wish to know the spec of the VLF.TR990DD, my brain is in over drive now
Now looking that side view, i think i met it in the past.
But i can't remember it's performances.
But also i think it was 770 model that i met, not 990. Not so sure.
Anyway, Cscope always did good quality enclosures from high quality plastic.
Yes they used same mold for whole series, which is not bad thing at all.
I follow this thread because I am interested in C scope metaaldetectors. I also own several types, TR1200, TR1220, Metadec and a new 770 and I possessed an old 770 and a new 440.
What amazes me is that C. Scope has not provided a shield in the search coil. I saw this when the search coil was open. Why was it omitted? For all types of diy coils, a shield is applied and C.Scope does not .
There are pictures of the inside of the coil on Geotech.

Which coil you are talking about?
Isocon coils are having Al shield (older ones) and graphite powder layer shield (newer coils).
I opened 3-4 so far and all those were shielded good.
