  • Does anyone have one of these?

Does anyone have one of these metal detectors? If so, can we see inside?
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ector&doy=14m7
They're available on eBay for around £30, but currently the price at Maplin Electronics is £19.99. It must be worth getting one just for the control box, stem and coil housing. It might make a good basis for a real detector.
Is this just another Radio Shack / Tandy copy?

Enclosure is identical as on Black Knight, so as commands on front panel and VU.
Not clear to see right, but it seems coil also identical. Only stem differs.
So...in case pcb inside is also the same than it is very good detector!
Not deep but very usefull for shallow targets, and what is most important very, very stabille!! In Disc mode works fantastic. Discrimination is so good.
Two tone option (switch to full right) is very interesting ...yet not accurate and device works pretty unstabile in that mode - feel to much ground changes and especially lowering and rising coil to/from soil surface can produce falses. I have one at home. Tested few times on very trashy soils. In Disc mode it is so sweet, works excellent.
So...Quiaozhi, if you have chance, buy it and see, you will be satisfied. So cheap!?

Does anyone have one of these ?

Qiaozhi , No I do not , but Ivconic is right. It is one model number lower than gold century GC-1023 "Black-Knight". The Maplin for $19.99 is Gold Century GC-1016. Takes "2" 9volt batteries . Single tone / Motion Discrimination and around 6.6 KHZ . It looks and sounds like a copy again of Old Micronta/Radio shack !!!!!!!! Buy for $19.99 and modify the circuit and Search-coil. Or a good Experiment Box/Project Parts for TGSL-1265 ?????...................Eugene
