Re: Golden uMax schematic--PIC CODE..Carl can U check pls

      OK Carl,

      As and when.

I'm in hospital this Monday and will be "out of action" for a week of so after, but then I'll be carrying on the R & D with a vengeance.

      Have a great week all!

Normally, when I put the pieces together into a formal schematic, I watch for things that don't "look right", and go back & retrace. Sorry for not posting this sooner, but I really thought I had only traced the very front of the RX.

Hello Everyone Good New Year to All

So just downloaded the Golden uMax schematic from amtech2005 posting.

Now not long ago saw Youtube video of fellow demonstrating this Metal Detector and loved the ability it has to give you a tone for all the different materials in this way one won't have to discriminate this way I think you get to know what material you found.

Now I only have Tesoro Silver uMax and I had emailed Tesoro and asked if this could be put into the Silver uMax and response I got was

"We do not modify any of our models. We make specific models for specific people. If you want a tone ID, then buy the Golden µMax. If we add stuff to the Silver µMax, that brings the cost up. So, just buy the Golden for tones ID.

So my question is it at all possible to have this done to the Silver uMax and then won't have to buy a new Tesoro? Today all I was finding is Nails but did find a Wirz Inc Chester which I think was the top of a bottle stopper at one point was happy finding that but not happy finding Roofing nails.

                      Thank You,

                      George

The model you have has a fixed internal ground balance setting. If you're detecting lots of small nails, then I suspect this may be adjusted incorrectly for your area. Tesoro are generally very good at rejecting small iron trash.

Try switching the detector to All Metal mode, and waving a ferrite slug in front of the coil. If the detector beeps, your ground balance setting is way off.

I had a White's Prizm II a few months ago that I bought cheaply on ebay, and it was almost useless in the field. It performed great in an air test, but on real soil it was hopeless. Once the internal ground balance was correctly set, it was like a completely different machine.

Thank you for the tip I shall give that a try and then look up how to ground balance

                          Thank you,
