I'll guess that no one has traced out the new Shadows, and that Robc's post was a "teaser". His posted email appears to be bogus.
I've looked inside the X5, and it would require significant disassembly to trace it out. Plus, some of the chips have had their numbers sanded off. Generally, though, it's not too hard to figure out what they are based on usage, so this tactic seems to be pretty silly.
I'm afraid to peak inside mine. Troy told me that is is sealed in such a way that they could tell if you opened it. I am curious about the construcion, but I just bought it.
There is an o-ring between the case halves, so when you take it apart, the o-ring might break. According to the manual, opening the case to look inside does void the warranty, which seems kind of silly to me. Anyone who wants to reverse-engineer the design, is certainly not going to be stopped by that. If nothing else, I like to look inside to check the assembly quality, and the X5 is one of the best I've seen.
