Congratulations on finished BFO. And thanks for schematic.

1.5m for 60x60 plate (by 30 cm coil) can be maybe possible in air not in soil.

Try with x-tal with lower valoue e.g. half so much.

US1A act as mixer and output is audible sound (or beat frequency).

Fred, according to author Wiktor Przybysz, the abbreviation BFO means BASE FREQUENCY OSCILLATOR.

                    Hi Monsieurs.
This is normal BFO with stirring 8 harmonic signal from the coil with the signal generator.
For the purposes of measuring the signal derived from the coil 17kHz (division by 2 and buffer).
The range of active plate 60x60cm Fe is 1.2 m.
When measuring the change in tone was obtained with 1 Hz Sensitivity 1.5 m.
All measurements in the air in the laboratory.
                    Do not get excited!
                    Best regards Chris.
